We went again for the second Saturday night in a row - it was very good & everyone enjoyed it. Very good prices & used our coupon from Allen online. Incredible wonton soup, Kung Pao & fried rice - everything tastes great & is very fresh. Kids loved the "Chinese Donuts"! This is our new Chinese restaurant & owners are wonderful. Please give them a try; I love supporting local businesses!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. The Allen Online neighborhood network is a great way for local consumers to share information.
Our new "Reviews" section is now open and it's part of the Business Directory. The Review section will also allow you to select a rating for the business.
If you have a moment please consider also writing your comments in the new Review section.

The problem with the Reviews section is there's no way to see on the summary where new comments have been added. I want to see only new posts. I don't want to have to click on every restaurant to see if there is something new. If you will add this feature, people will use it.

The Neighbor Reviews are a relatively new section and it is different than the discussions in the forums. When a review is posted it appears first so you can read the most current review.
New reviews are coming in daily. I place a reminder in the forums to simple let others know about this new feature. The Neighbor Reviews are have their own criteria as compared to the forums.
Reviews should be first-hand experiences. Comments about a review or other discussions should be placed in the Allen Talk forums. Neighbor Review or Allen Talk.
Which should I use?
If a business is an advertiser on Allen Online use the Neighbor Reviews. To comment on a review or for businesses not listed use the Allen Talk forums.

It seems kind of clumsy to check if the business has paid AOL money to figure out where to write a review. If it is OK with you I'll continue to use the Talk forums.

Very clumsy and time-consuming too.
Plus, I wrote a review on a business (chiropractic office) which was very unfavorable (my personal negative experiences with them) and it didn't get published. I also wrote a review on another business (car care) which was favorable and it was published. So, that leads me to believe that that review section is rather biased toward good reviews for Allen Online paid advertisers and, therefore, little use to me!

Went this weekend, only for take-out. Loved the 'design your own dish'. Best were the carrots that were made just right, always my big test. The eggrolls were good also, as was the rest of the meal.
Actually, I loved the interior and would have loved to stay. The people were very nice. I'll go back.

I sure wish you would have sent me a message asking what happened with the review. If you did I would have looked into it. Please send me the details. Any other questions about the review feature please PM.
Please return to the original topic.
Thanks,

We had delivery from here last night, and were quite pleased with the food we got. We had a mixup on the order and didn't get a couple of our dishes, but the food was quite good. If there was a disappointment at all, the egg rolls were really spring rolls (not sure if that was a mistake or just the way it is). My kung pao beef was delicious, with good quality beef (and plenty of it), crispy vegetables and a nice savory sauce with good heat.
Other dishes were great as well; pot stickers and dumplings had a very flavorful, meaty filling and the dipping sauce was excellent.
Bottom line, this will probably be our new go-to delivery place for Chinese. I hope they keep up the good work.

We had dinner there tonight. Food was ok . Service was horrible, had to ask for silverware, sweetener for tea, sauces, refill on drinks. Bought my husband food out then served other tables, still waiting on my food. Finally got my food and it was ok. We will not be back.
This is just a post ,no one in particular

We tried it on Thursday night because of all the good reviews posted. We really liked it, The decor is nice, service was good and the food for the price was great. Best thing we didn't have to sit on a bench for 45 minutes waiting for a table and because they didn't have people packed in like sardines we could actually hear each other speak. Instead of going to one of the many chain restaurants and waiting an hour for a table please give this place a try. It's located in the shopping center where Cici's pizza is.

My husband & I ate there the other night - the service was GREAT and the food was delicious! My daughter and her friend love it - and have made it a regular stop. They were the ones who recommended it and I am glad! We will definitely be back again soon!

Just returned from dinner at ZEN CHOW. I went specifically because of the comments here and used my Allen onlline coupon. WOW it was really good. Enough food for lunch and dinner tomorrow. We were the only customers so get the word out because we don't want this restaurant to close. I still miss Ruth Ellen's. The family is going to try it for lunch after church on Sunday.
I will leave a review in the review section too.

We made our second trip last weekend and it was just as good as the first time. Love it. There was only one other couple in there for lunch though. I hope they're doing good take out business.

Being located next door, we frequent Zen Chow when we want a healthier alternative to some of the Asian Food Restaurants in Allen that use a lot of artificial ingredients. The food tastes amazing, almost as good as if you made it at home. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Definitely the top Asian Food restaurant in Allen.

How do you know they don't use a lot of "artificial" ingredients?

I've been around for a while, & the only time I've heard the phrase "artificial ingredients" used is in commercials.
Question 1) what are artificial ingredients?
Question 2) how do you find out if someone is using them at a restaurant?
Question 3) can I buy artificial ingredients at a store?
Pardon my ignorance in advance... and thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

Having eaten there for both lunch and dinner, I have to say the lunches are a much better deal. You seem to get the same amount of main dish, and you also get eggroll and soup for a lower price.
Maybe we just lucked out in the amount of food we got in the lunch, but it's a great deal.
Also, the banana eggroll are amazing!

Good reviews, and consistent comments about a lack of other customers, seems like a familiar formula. I hope they get their name out there or this place may follow Ruth Ellens onto the list of favorite AOL restaurants not to see their one year anniversary. I will do my part by giving them a try soon.
