I hope they get their name out there or this place may follow Ruth Ellens onto the list of favorite AOL restaurants not to see their one year anniversary.
I know I have gotten coupons in two mailers (not sure if it was the same one two different months or if it was two different mailers), so it seems like they are trying.
We did take out from Zen Chow the other night, and will probably do it again.

We had lunch there this weekend. As many have mentioned, it was virtually empty. There was one other customer there, but two others came when we were on our way out. We ordered 2 lunch specials - general tso's and sesame chicken with miso soup, wanton soup and egg rolls. Everything was great except the wanton soup which tasted strongly of msg. We will likely visit again or get take out.
I hope business picks up for them. I think they may need to try what Panda Express did last year: have a free entree day. Yes, they will lose money, but they need to advertise to improve business.

Way up the line, but Brad- they have traditional Eggrolls and fresh Spring rolls so maybe they just missed that step in asking you what your preference was :(.
Have been here twice so far, will go back as often as I can. As someone who got spoiled by the Asian food in the Great Northwest, I am happy to finally have a go-to traditional Chinese place in Allen!

We went for lunch today. The lunch specials are great! You have the choice between a traditional eggroll or the springroll. We chose the springroll-YUM! I had the Miso soup and my son had the won-ton soup. We were both happy. I chose the shrimp szechuan and he chose the General Tsao's chicken. We will be back! The place was spotless. The service attentive and friendly. The food was fresh, vibrant and delicious!

Don't assume people only "eat in" at a restaurant. We have had food delivered 4 times from them. We love it and have enjoyed everything we have ordered each time. But I have yet to set foot into the restaurant.

I went by last night after recommendations on this board to grab some take-out while the kids were at church. I expected to wait a bit since this is not fast food, sat and had a glass of water, and it was ready! Fast service and the portions are huge for the price. We loved it and will definitely be back.

Last week my daughter and I were on the way to the Subway door and I said that we should try Zen Chow instead. Wow! I am not much of a fan of Asian food but everything was so good.
It was going to take a little while to marinate some chicken for what I ordered so the server gave us egg drop soup for free. Delicious! The entrees were so fresh and hot. The veggies done just right. After that, the server let us sample the Chinese doughnuts after he over heard us asking each other what they were. I'm not a doughnut eater either but OMG!
I took our son and my husband back there on Sun. eve. There were a couple tables there but the take out business was doing very well. The take out was busy the day my daughter and I were there as well. My son has ordered take-out there 2 more times since his first visit.
Never really thought that Zen Chow would be on my list of favorites but it is.

Another great night last night at Zen Chow. However, it unnerved me last night to see not another single customer in there!!
Their food is the best quality Chinese we've found (without driving to Richardson!). Last night, I tried the "Design Your Own Dish" and it was amazing. I couldn't believe it. They even offered me steamed brown rice (which many restaurants never have).
It is so much different than the other spots around. The chicken was so tender last night, it was almost silky. The veggies were fresh...what a difference.
The inside is surprising. You expect a hole-in-the-wall, but it's really very nice.
Please don't let this restaurant be another great spot that is forgotten...go get some Chinese :-)

We went there last night for takeout to try it, very good Chinese food. We'll definitely be back. My husband had the Orange Chicken, and I had Sweet and Sour Chicken.

We've eaten at Zen Chow twice - once in the restaurant and once for take out. Their portion sizes are huge (we've made two meals out of each entree) and everything appears to be very freshly made. My husband loves their sweet and sour pork! We'll do our part to keep this place in business.

Had take out for dinner last night. Three different entrees. Very good. A little pricy for dinner but it was my fault because I forgot my coupon.

We (family) had dinner at Zen Chow Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I was pleased to see the place very busy. Yet the service never faltered, and of course the food was excellent.
Zen Chow now has a website: zenchowasiandiner.com
You can tell Zen Chow is a cash flow operation, and not some well financed corporate placement. For this reason, things are slowly improving.
For those of you who have never been inside, I personally invite you to come in on Dec 10 from 6-8pm. I will be performing table side magic, complements of management.

I took my family here Saturday night. I agree with some of the positives and negatives I've seen mentioned here. The inside is fairly nice and the quantity of food is ample (enough for take home). But unfortunately we found our entrees tasted sugary and all the entrees were also a bit too greasy. It's probably the best Chinese in the Allen area but I'd prefer to drive further for better food. That sugary taste on our lips after we left just wasn't what we like.

Went there last week at lunch and was quite impressed. I've been here since 2001 and it was easily the best Chinese food I've had in Allen.

I thought I would pass this on to everyone thinking about trying Zen Chow. Ad Pages has a Buy $10, Get $20 of Food for Zen Chow (similar to a Groupon) up right now. What a great deal! (to something that is already a great deal)

Went for lunch today. First time since the first week it opened and I liked it just as much. Great food, great service, great value. Still not very many people in there though during the lunch rush. I sure hope it picks up for them so they can stick around

Good food. good price. Slow service.
This isn't the best food ever, but it is good and worth going again.
