I have used http://gojaric.com/ a few times and they show up promptly when they say they will. As far as prices, well, nothing AC related is anything but majorly expensive, butthey seem reasonable and in line with the market.

Webster Mechanical will be your best bet. Get quotes from anyone and have Dave take a look. You'll get the best equipment and the best price. Every person I've referred him to has again referred him to others.

Thanks for all the response. I did call AAA Air, however after a few days with no call, I have shelved them. They must be really busy, but come on now,at least call to let me know that you got the msg and will call to schedule soon. Some type of communication is worth it's weight in gold in my eyes.

AC Companies are pretty busy this week. I had a new system installed years ago with AC Appliance Pros.
Been really happy with them in getting my system serviced twice a year.

I'm a JARIC customer and Jim is wonderful.

In this same vein, we might be needing an A/C guy as well. Our house has been almost unbearable lately; even with the AC running 24/7 it still never gets under 75 (mostly stays at 77). Is this just because of the extreme heat and I should just get used to it?
Also possible issue that I think means we'll need to get a guy out: When our electricity flickers (on/off in a second) then our AC seems to stop working as well and temps get over 80 for *hours* before slowly dropping to around 77.

My house isn't keeping up either, I've set our thermostat at 80 to help give the A/C a break, yesterday it did get up to 82 in the house which was better than the 85 it got to on Tuesday.

readingrainbow, it is not a problem with your A/C. It is because of the heat. Ours runs all afternoon and never stops until it starts to "cool off" at night. We have started keeping all the lights off during the day to help keep a tolerable temperature in the house. It is amazing how much heat the overhead lights create! We don't start turning on any lights until it starts to get dark in the evening.

Another vote for Lucas. The system they installed for us last summer keeps our house at 74 degrees 24x7 even on these crazy hot days.

My old system ran 24/7 in the summer. The home builder installed an under rated system for the house size. They put the same size unit in all the homes in my development.
If your having cooling issues, have a tech come out and check your unit size to the sq footage of your home. It may be that you have a system too small to handle the load or your system is just too old and needs to be replaced.
With my new system, I can get the house down to whatever temp I set it to. System is also equip'd with a heat pump which works great during the winter months. The system also has a variable speed control so the system doesn't have to run in full mode all the time. This really saves on the elect. bills.

Hmm, well I guess we'll get someone out *and* be open to just getting used to it. They do free estimates, right? I don't want to pay someone to tell me to just grin and bear it.
Our system is pretty new; I believe it was installed in 2009 (we just bought this house in October) so I feel that it ought to be able to keep us as cold as we want. Until we had the first power flicker temps stayed at 70, but since then it's been too hot in here. To be fair, though, that day was also the start of the heat wave so could just be horrible coincidence.
I am SOOOO ready for winter, my brain doesn't work well in this heat (I have MS so heat truly screws with me)
