Nice work. I hope your next post is not to alert us that the flag was discarded in an disrespectful way.

I purposely drove by to see the flag two weeks ago due to your posts. I cannot believe that a place like that would let this happen. With all the competition in the area, if I were a person in that market I would be concerned about their attention to detail. If the flag was in that state, I can't imagine what the interior conditions would be and how long it would take them to address an issue.

mgrayar,

It sure didn't take them long to get it down after being contacted by the Director of property standards. I plan to ask them for the old one. They are supposed to get the new one up wednesday (I hope)

I found another yesterday, and asked the biz why their huge Flag was at half staff (actually lower)? They didn't know, so after taking pictures I am now going to their corporate thingy.

Yeah, being one, I know that one. But it wasn't practiced all over and these clerks didn't know they had a Flag (biggest one amongst area businesses), haha. But thanks. Perhaps that will be the Company's response and that will be great.

I can understand the drive to enforce respect for the American flag. But, when I mull over situations like the one described here I'm left with a question. Is the reaction too rigid. The flag was flying and that has a well intended meaning even if treatment of the particular flag wasn't ideal. Is the reaction to the less than ideal circumstances like the strict adherence to particular religious ritual which sometimes misses the whole point of the faith?

I think you may have a good point. I thought it seemed a bit rigid as well.

ETIQUETTE of the STARS and STRIPES

As revised by public law 94-344. THE UNITED STATES FLAG its history-how to display it and respect it.

I have been to various websites about this issue and still get the same results. I was nice about it. Offered to help, fireman offered to help and when the right person got involved, the tattered flag came down the same day. I have a letter of thanks and and hopefully an offer to help them get another flag in the works. Our Post has a house committee meeting on saturday morning and I will bring it to the floor. Everything has to be approved through the HC. I would love to see a brand new beautiful flag flying there.

Some will not understand others passion for a thing. Yet aside from this example, I wonder what they think of the businesses that fly for improper reason and do not maintain their Flags? Oh well, thanks for your efforts, and together we might help people think about this issue. Gotta go look for Flag issues, bye now.

Some peoples passion lies in determining what color of paint you are allowed to have under your bathroom sink and how to remove you from your house if you don't comply.....

They just don't get the whole "flag" thingie....
