Several of us just realized we hadn't seen a progress report yet. I just heard that they are only going out for students with failing grades.

This worries me a lot. Nine weeks is a very long time not to know how well (or not) your child is doing. At least with a regular progress report, they have some time to turn it "around," if necessary.

Does anyone have any info on this? I didn't hear anything about this at curriculum night or when they were discussing going to 9-week periods.

My kids are in middle school and high school so we have instant access at all times through the Skyward system. Do they not have that for elementary school? You can always ask the teacher for an update via email.

We were told at curriculum night that they won't send progress reports for the first nine weeks, unless the child is failing. After that, progress reports will be sent each nine weeks.

There's nothing on Skyward for test scores or report cards except previous years' report cards.

I guess they don't do that for elementary?

Thanks Amy -- we weren't told that.

Right, Skyward only has grades for sixth grade and up except for report cards. Maybe your child's teacher would be able to email their current grades to you if you asked.

Progress reports are required for students who are failing a subject. They typically do not come home with all students during the first grading period of the year, but will come home for all others. It is my experience that teachers are happy to share information with any parent who requests it. I would call or email the teacher, especially if there is a concern.
