Try L&L Hawaiian BBQ on Preston in Frisco. Even though I find the thought of SPAM frightening they serve it. May there be mercy on my soul, I tried it.

Yesterday for lunch..another creation to die for..

I made one.. Two slices fried crisp on both sides. Onion rings, hatch pepper slices, and melted mozzarella on a toasted hoagie bun with southwestern deli sauce. Get creative. Blind folded you'll never believe it's spam.

That sounds pretty good, actually. Mom used to make macaroni with tomatoes, and pan fried Spam for us after a day on Lake Texoma. Good stuff.

I just posted that for the Monty Python laughs. Funny skit.

I remember when the family budget was tight, Spam was the meat of choice for dinner. And there are so many possibilities for preparing it: http://www.spam.com/recipes/default.aspx

Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam; ...

.......or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.

Classic!!!!

Ate at L&L today and I REALLY wish I wouldn't have. HORRIBLE. Got the popular Loco Moco. Processed beef patty that you would get at Wal-Mart in bulk, undercooked rice and tasteless gravy. Sadly I still ate it and have been sick to my stomach since. :(

Cowboy Dusty,

Is that a home made recipe and if so are you willing to share it? It actually sounds good enough to try although I am confused by the ramen noodles part since I have only seen the ones that already have flavorings and tons of sodium.

If sodium is a concern, use only half a packet of flavoring, or just eat the noodles and not the soup.

I do have another spam ramen recipe to share though. Prepare the ramen as usual (or according to package instructions). In a small bowl, beat an egg. Also in another pan, pan fry a couple slices of spam until you get the crispy edges. When the noodle soup is ready, move the noodles out to a serving bowl, and leave the soup in the pot. Turn off the heat and slowly stir in the egg. Keep stirring while you pour in the egg, so the soup have a texture of egg drop soup. Pour the soup into the noodle bowl, put the spam on top and serve.

I'd also cook a few pieces of bok choy in my soup so this unhealthy meal doesn't look so deadly. Another suggestion is since you'd want to eat the egg drop soup, you might want to replace the water + MSG packet with a can of low sodium chicken broth, or risk your blood pressure monitor exploding!

Alright if this doesn't get your interest in trying out spam, but you'd like to make this ramen noodle soup, one substitute I have is Chinese BBQ pork (cha xiu). You can get them at First Chinese BBQ in Richardson or Plano, or Yung Kee in Richardson. But that would not longer be a "fancy" ramen meal under $1.

If you want to class it up a bit use only egg whites poured through a serving spoon with holes in it, into the stock while some else stirs.
