Five Tips for Staying Fit and Healthy throughout the Holidays
The fast-approaching Holiday season is notorious for derailing many consumers’ health and wellness regimens. Between travel, shopping, and lavish meals, it’s easy for anyone to slip up on his or her nutrition and fitness routine.
Sticking to a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to put a damper on Holiday festivities. It just takes a bit more planning and self-control, and most importantly, making a commitment to a reasonable routine with a peer, spouse or a group of friends.
Ray Cattaneo offers the following five tips to help Allen consumers stay fit throughout the Holidays and avoid the weight loss scramble in January:
1.Find a support system
It’s proven that people are more motivated to work out or stick to a healthy nutrition program if they know that a close friend, spouse, or peer are going through the same motions. While a personal trainer can certainly motivate you, exercising with another person or small group will inspire you further to stick to your routine.
2.Plan ahead and outline a schedule.
If you know that you’ll be traveling during, look ahead to determine where and how you’ll conduct your cardio and strength training. Considering packing a few hand weights, or resistance bands. You may have to schedule personal training sessions earlier than before so that you can fit in your shopping and cooking duties.
3.Make strength-training sessions a priority. There is no better prescription for minimizing the jiggle and maximizing the shapely muscle tone than getting in strength training sessions a minimum of three times per week. If you know you can’t meet your work-out buddies or trainer one day, bring some hand weights to the office.
4.Never strive for perfection.
Everyone has a temporary slip up, so understand that lapses are an important part of the process of sticking to a permanent health and wellness routine. Share these temporary setbacks with your trainer or friends and it will ultimately help you to strengthen your resolve.
5.Remember, there is no quick fix for achieving your health and fitness goals. The best recipe for success for looking and feeling healthy throughout the hectic Holiday season is a three-pronged approach:
•Strength-train a minimum of three times a week.
•Get in at least 30 minutes of cardio most days of the week (and preferably daily).
•Eat healthy, eat light, and eat often.
Just in time for the hectic Holiday season, Fitness Together in Allen now offers a small group personal training program.
