Looking for a recommendation for a mechanic who can take a look at a 65 Mutang.
Basic vehicle check up, possible carb rebuild, gas take clean out.

Carb kit is less than $35 from autozone. If the old tank is rusty or leaks then chunk it. If its sound then drain it and fill with fresh gas. If it has been sitting a long time spin the oil pump over with a drill until you get oil pressure. Run it till warm and change the oil.
A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

If you are doing a pre-purchase inspection, then there is only so much that can be done if the car is not running.
With older cars, completeness of parts is more important then running condition - other than running or not.
I would grab onto a local mustang car club forum and look for a recommendation. You are looking for a specialist not a generalist. I was in the market for an old jag and I found one that looked and ran perfectly, but I had a specialist check it out and he said - RUN!!! The went on to explain why. It was a cherry to look at, but a rotten core inside. He saved me a ton.
