For anyone familiar with Delaney's in McKinney and/or The Irish Rover in Frisco, you might want to check out a new place called The Irish Icehouse in Plano.

It is run by Blue Tate, the guy who originally opened both Delaney's and The Rover...both of which are under new ownsership currently.

Anyway, basic overview at following link.

I went today for lunch and the food was OK not great but they have only been open for a week. I will say the owner is a very nice guy and gave us free samples to try. Also the wait staff were awesome but need a little time to learn the menu. All said I will be back after a few weeks to try again it definitely has potential. It was for lunch and I had to return to work so I can't comment on the beer selection. If you are wondering where it's located it's 2 blocks south of 121 on Preston by the Pei Wei.

Well, for the most part I've been getting good feedback on the food since my visit. I agree with your comment on the waitstaff, but I chalked it up to the 'newness'.

I'm curious how this place will do, given that at least two other restaurants have failed in that space. Plus, those looking for something more pub-ish are more likely to choose the Grail, or Rugby House over this place.

Wish I knew why he sold-out his interest in Irish Rover & Delaney's.....

Hi there-
To answer your question. We sold The Rover for many reasons but the main 3 were; our manager passsed away (if you remember Mark he had worked for us for years and it hit us really hard he was like family) our partner was ill and we just wanted a break for a while we were all tired.

We opened Delaney's about 6 months after we sold The Rover and had planned on that being it BUT someone approached us about a great location or so we thought in Fort Worth! So we sold Delaney's in Mckinney to open/ fund Delaney's in Fort Worth. The week we opened in Fort Worth 20 other restaurants opened at the same time within 5 blocks! After almost a year we decided the location just was not going to make it. With much thought and soul searching we closed and lost everything. BUT We are still truckin along

When I lived in Frisco I visited The Rover quite often. I already moved out of the area when I heard Mark had passed away. I couldn't imagine The Rover ever being the same without him. I work in Plano and will make it a point to visit the Irish Icehouse! Maybe with any luck they will serve that awesome chicken curry that I used to love at the Rover. :)
