Saw both of these this weekend. Hugo- terrific movie, surprisingly so. Everyone from my 8 year old up to me and my husband absolutely loved it, a must see.

Warhorse- also very good. A little tough to see the horses go through the things they did, but my teens and I thought it was very well done.

The people I know who have seen "War Horse" have told me to bring plenty of tissues, but it is a good movie.

I know "Hugo" was in big demand in the elementary school library last school year (I used to volunteer there) and it was always on reserve. The kids loved reading the book, so that is good the movie is also worth seeing.

I saw War Horse over the holidays and thought it was excellent. One thing that really impressed me was how the movie portrayed the war scenes. It was refreshing to see a show that provided the emotional impact of the situation without resorting to gratuitous blood and gore. Denise, you'll definitely want your tissues, but I think overall you'll enjoy the movie.

Heck, forget the tissues, bring the wetvac!

Some of the most visually stunning cinematography that I've seen in several years, but it's a two hour emotional rollercoaster! By the end, the whole theater was tearyeyed.

Knowing what was happening off-screen at the conclusion of the first battle scene, even without as cloggergirl said the gratuitous blood and gore, had almost as big an impact on me as the D-Day landing in Saving Private Ryan.

Warhorse is a wonderful film.

Spielberg was clearly influenced by Kubrick and "Paths of Glory" when he created the infantry battle scene.

Maurice...check out "Paths of Glory" since I know you like good war films.
