I understand what they are trying to do, but I did like having the Flower Mound and Hebron teams in our district. It made for very competitive games across all sports ...
The Texas 5A Football site is right. The district appears to be weaker and it will be easier to make the playoffs.

The biggest problem is there are only six teams. That makes it very easy to get in the playoffs. The part I don't like is FIVE preseason.....I mean non-district games and only five district games. What's up with that???

I know it will be a relief to not be having to travel to the Lewisville/Carollton area every other week and fighting all that traffic across the metroplex to see the Eagles and the Escadrille. (Band parent X 2 next year!)

From the Allenisd Athletics page:
Excitement is starting to build for the 2012 Eagle football season and the opening of our new 18,000 seat Eagle Stadium. We are in the process of finalizing the procedures for assigning and selling season tickets for next season. Those procedures will be publicized in late February or early March. The actual sale of season tickets will not take place until late May or early June as it does each year. Watch this website and the Allen ISD website for more information.

Would be nice to see some priority given to parents with kids on the field . . .

I saw on the UIL website where PESH, Allen, Plano, & Plano West (in that order) are the 4 largest schools in the state. Boyd is a ways down the list (around the 70th largest) and McKinney is the 10th smallest 5A school.
Not to put the cart in front of the horse, but at least we will no longer have to wait to see which other teams in the district make the playoffs to determine if we will go in the D1 or D2 bracket...
