It is our anniversary tomorrow and since we only get one every four years we like to make it special. We are looking for a really nice restaurant not worried about price. We've been to the Mansion so we would like to try something new. We made a reservation at five-sixty but reading a lot of bad reviews. Any other suggestions?

The Place at Perrys was fantastic for our anniversary. It's the one on McKinney. Ask for the anniversary booth. It has a motorized curtain for extra privacy. Pretty cool location to walk and people watch after dinner as well.

There is a really wonderful restaurant located in Deep Elem in the old Boyd hotel called "Local". The place is totally renovated and very cool. The food is wonderful. It's cozy and romantic. I believe their website is localdallas.com or something like that.

Some thoughts:

Fearing's at the Ritz-Carlton
Nick & Sam's
Abacus
Al Biernat's
Pappa's Bros. Steakhouse
Another vote for the Place at Perry's
Bijoux
Cafe Pacific

There are bad reviews about everywhere so I would take some of them with a grain of salt.

It is really hard to beat the food from any of the Wolfgang Puck eateries. This one is simply elegant with some really fine asian influenced foods. Top off the food with a truly romantic ambiance and you have a winner. There are a lot of good/great restaurants in the Dallas area but it is hard to top the romantic charm of Five-Sixty or the Mansion.

Now, having said this, if you do not want Asian, this is a loser. Also, I have had a bad experience here. The bad experience was my fault. I really don't like General Tso sauce and I really don't like Mizuna. But what do I do, I order the quail with General Tso sauce on a bed of Mizuna. It was awful and I can write a burning review because of it but wait, it was my fault. Fortunately, they serve Tsingtao and a good Chinese beer can overcome any bad choice.

I'd chose Al Biernat's, particularly if you want something besides steak.

We want to try the Old Warsaw Restaurant - any opinions about that place?

The Old Warsaw got the worst review I've ever read in the DMN a few years ago.

THANK YOU everyone for your wonderful suggestions. In the end, we decided to keep the reservation with five-sixty. Not the best meal we've ever had. Husband ordered the quail because he likes quail it was not good he didn't finish it. I ordered pork chop waiter kept saying it is cooked medium do you need it cooked more. I said no however chef cooks it is how I want it. It was way overcooked. I will say the lobster spring rolls were excellent and so was the chocolate souffle, but we won't be back.
Can't wait to try all the other recommendations.

If your a pork chop fan, try The Place at Perry's next time. I will say, it's the best I've ever had by far.

We really like Jasper's in Plano.
Instead of trying to convince the other side they are wrong, why don't we come together to fix the things we all agree are wrong. We waste too much time and energy arguing when we should be united.

My office building is located at the Shops at Legacy so I'm very fortunate to be able to eat at Jasper's for lunch (when my wallet allows) :) I highly recommend the ahi tuna burger with the fried green beans. I think it's super delicious. Hmmm... I might have to get one this week!

Ok, scratch all my comments on The Place at Perry's. I was actually meaning Perry's. I got the two confused. I went to Perry's again last night with business, it was fantastic one again. Had the pork chop, and again, ohhh my! It comes as a huge hunk of meat that is then carved into three portions table side. The portions are ribs, tenderloin, and a very moist and tasty cut that I cannot name. It is fantastic though.
