As a person who started with bulletin boards, I might say I've been around Windows a long time and I see a couple things happening with the Windows 8 attempt. Besides the phone/tablet/PC interfaces all trying to be the same as they all merge, don't forget that everything is eventually going to be "cloud" based so the more alike the interfaces, the easier it will be between devices and services. Certainly would not surprise me if the personal computer goes the way of film cameras. Use a tablet for an interface and run/save everything in the cloud. Many companies are going toward the social networks so that may also be the "wave of the future". I've noted that several sites where I want to comment on an article now REQUIRE a Facebook login instead of just registering. Like it or not (I don't), we may all have a single interface for everything and nothing saved on a hard drive. Put it all in the cloud so the "powers that be" have access to all your files and hackers can hack one place to get millions of files instead of millions of computers to get at a few.
