As I posted earlier, it's that time of year again and we all need to make sure we have our weather radios on and in alert mode. Also be sure to replace the batteries in your weather radios this weekend so they can still operate in the event of a power outage.

Monday afternoon/evening it's looking likely that there will be severe weather throughout the southern plains states including North and Central Texas. So make sure your radios are in good working order, are getting good reception and pay attention to the weather forecast on Monday and of course, updates will be posted here on that day. Stay safe!

Ok, I'm the one with the radio that doesn't work. It's set to the right code, but right now, there are no lights on the left on. Is that right? I wasn't here during the thick of it, but it's still raining outside.

There are no further warnings for our area now, so that should be correct.

Yeah, I thought it was supposed to have a watch light. Those three lights on the left side. Mine didn't have anything. This was during the heavy rain.

Maurice, did your radio siren ever go off? My husband was here, and he said it never did. It set to tornado warning.

I wasn't home so I couldn't verify if it did to be honest, I know the sirens were going off all over when I was outside checking out the storms however.

I finally broke down and ordered a weather radio.
Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it.

Will work for shoes!

Maurice, you watching this set up for Saturday, more to the northwest of us? They're pretty concerned about all the ingredients.

Wonder if I should take my weather radio to the ballet studio (where I'll be with two of my three kids).

We love our Midland WR300.

I changed the settings so that it doesn't go off for every alert, only the alerts I care about.
Instead of trying to convince the other side they are wrong, why don't we come together to fix the things we all agree are wrong. We waste too much time and energy arguing when we should be united.

We'll have to do a test this weekend. If the stuff pops up, you come on here and tell me what it should be doing.

Yea, been watching this all week. Just came back from OK, was tempted to stay up there and head NW to check it out this weekend as everything is primed for a lot of action up there tomorrow. It could be a very bad day for people in OK, KS and NE. SPC has put them in the High Risk for tomorrow and everything's pointing to large, violent tornadoes. We may see some severe early Sunday morning if anything tracks our way as the storms are expected to form into a squall line as they head into TX. How far east they make it to us is the question but they are thinking squall line with embedded rotation as of now.

Tomorrow looks pretty scary for the OK, KS, NE areas.

I'm happy to see more people are getting their weather radios and have them prepared, this is a GREAT thing! Hopefully, we'll never need them to warn us of impending danger in the form of large tornadoes but hoping doesn't keep us safe.

Great work everyone, getting your radio's and having them setup!!

I always try to do my best in giving people a heads up on potential severe weather. I just post what the NWS is looking at for potential in our area and post the information as a heads up, nothing makes me happier than for it to be wrong. :) But, if there is an area of concern for NWS I post it up and as we saw a couple of weeks ago, tornadoes can pop up in swarms occasionally with little warning if things blend together 'just right', which is what makes meteorology so difficult for the professional meteorologists to get right. That's also why we all need to pay close attention to the weather during storm season and have our radios on and in alert mode, to warn us if anything's headed our way.

Glad you love that radio Joel, I think it's a great piece of gear and for peace of mind, the cost is minimal.

Just as an FYI, I've disabled all the alerts on my radio except for Tornado warnings which cannot be disabled. Severe T-storm Warnings at 2AM for a storm nowhere near us but in our county can get the wife in a bad mood. ;)

Yeah I'm watching the one near Lawton now. Maybe we'll make it if we NEVER see that crazy hail the Panhandle had Wednesday, haha!

That Lawton one hasn't produced anything although there was one report of a wall cloud which had dissipated. Two severe warned cells right now so things are getting going but tomorrow is looking really, really scary. SPC very rarely puts out High Risk two days out from the event, wonder how fast they'll move things up to PDS tomorrow. Here's hoping that everyone can stay safe tomorrow on those areas affected!
