Are there any charities that will come to a home to pick up clothing? I get the postcards in the mail occasionally stating certain charities will be in the area and you can schedule a pickup, but haven't received one recently.
Will Goodwill pick up clothing? Any other?
Thanks!

You can check with ACO in this site, and that might be helpful? Also on Goodwill, one can drop things off at their location. There are also many local bins, including some for Medina. Hope that helps.

The Cancer Federation has a truck parked at the bowling alley on Greenville. They take pretty much any thing except furniture and appliances. One of their stores is on Ave K and 18th St in Plano. Paralyzed Veterans and Leukemia Society both contact us and think both take clothing, household, etc...Also Children's Advocacy.

Just beware - once you agree to donate items to a service that will pick up from your home, you'll be inundated with phone calls from other organizations asking for the same thing. I used to give items to some of those groups when my kids were younger and frequently outgrew clothing, etc. Now they're older and we just don't have the same amount of stuff to donate. However, that hasn't stopped the frequent phone calls. Asking them to stop calling doesn't seem to do any good either. I prefer to just take donations to the truck at the bowling alley now.

I think the Salvation Army will pick up. The truck was at my neighbor's house a few weeks ago.

Thanks, everyone. I purged some closets, so I have more bags of clothing than will fit in my car.
However, I might just take them a load at a time to the bowling alley drop-off.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

There is a new store, Thrifty Sense, in the old A Town Sports location (near Big Lots and Tuesday Morning) which I noticed this morning and stopped by. They accept donations and also do pickups. Their phone number is 214-383-4004. They are a non-profit that helps the needy, homeless and elderly.
