Here is my rant on another site about water conservation rebates and my Wildflower project. This site allows photo posting so i used it instead of AllenOnline. But dangit I want my REBATE!! It's funny how we incent reduced water consumption yet provide no incentive to eliminate extra irrigation.

I suppose you could go in front of the city council to propose adding this type of landscaping as a rebate, but I'm not sure how they would calculate it. How would the rebate be funded? Would there be a grant from some organization to fund something like this? I also have reduced my lawn area and used native and adapted plants for the same reasons. I also planted deciduous trees to shade my house in the afternoon which reduces electricity costs plus they add value to my home if we ever decide to sell.
I would be interested in finding out what the city tells you about a proposal like you stated in your link. You might start with the water conservation manager, Gail Donaldson - [email protected]; to find out what you can do to propose such a rebate.

That would eb a good start. Do you know how the current rebate program is funded??

I love flowers. I guess the pictures were too small to get the full effect. I guess my thought was the same as the other poster on the Frisco site, do you have any new guests in your yard because of this?
