I wanted to post both a heads up for tomorrow mornings severe weather threat and today's High Risk for the plains states to make sure everyone is informed.
Tomorrow morning, we are projected to see storms in the 6AM to Noon time frame. These storms are expected to have high winds, hail and isolated tornadoes. Later today and early tomorrow morning, the exact details will become more clear as today's weather event unfolds. Updates will follow later.
Today is a High Risk situation for OK, KS and NE. If you are travelling in these areas or know anyone who is, make sure they pay VERY close attention to the weather in their area. NWS has already posted a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch as they are expecting a large outbreak of, as they put it, strong-violent, long track tornadoes along with hail to 4" in diameter and dangerous lightning. The Weather Channel will most likely be giving lots of coverage of it today as they always do when these large outbreaks occur. I just hope people in those areas heed to warnings and are prepared to head to safety. Even better yet, here's hoping it all fizzles out and nothing occurs.

Yea, always hope for the storms to weaken before they get near us and of course I'm hoping these storms up north don't produce the long track tornadoes they have been predicting. So far, so good on that front as there hasn't been any of those yet but plenty of tornadoes are ongoing now.

As soon as I posted this, a large wedge tornado reported on the ground near Salina, KS. Was watching streaming coverage on it, it's a big one and it's moving pretty quick.

Gosh, as soon as I posted on FB about the 90 tornadoes today, the weather service said 100 reports, haha. Sure is a serious event. I know you're watching the storm line that now extends from beyond Kansas all the way down to Lubbock Texas! Here she comes (in a few hours).

Yea, Woodward OK just took significant damage. Looks like two tornadoes training behind one another headed towards N Wichita. Almost the whole line down into Texas is severe warned right now, waiting for SPC's latest Day 1 update.

Right now, NWS has adjusted the timing of the storms slightly to between 7AM-2PM in our area. For us, these should be arriving around 8-9AM time frame, depending on whether they speed up or slow down from their current speed of 40MPH.
Large hail, damaging winds are the primary threat but isolated tornadoes are also expected. Make sure your weather radios are on and in alert mode and you pay attention to your favorite weather broadcast in the morning. We are NOT expecting the same intensity as the storms to our north in OK, KS and NE but this strong to severe storms are expected.
Categorical Threats:
Wind: 15%
Hail: 5%
Tornado: 2%

You're very welcome. :) Appears our storms did make it but looks like they're coming through pretty calm until they get past us into Rains and Van Zandt counties where they're expected to intensify as they move eastward, which is fine by me. :)
