I'm just curious to know how many of you actually pick up and read the free DMN Briefing or Allen American newspapers. I see them lying out in yards throughout my neighborhood and find them to be somewhat of an eyesore when they're left unattended.
I called not too long ago to cancel delivery of The Briefing. Just as simple as a phone call. I still prefer getting the Allen paper since it pertains to Allen.
But, for those who don't read them, might I suggest either picking them up out of your yard and recycling them, or call to stop delivery. It's the "green" thing to do, plus doing so makes your yard look better-kept.
Something else to consider is burglars are known to look for abandonded newspapers (among other things) as a sign no one's been home or doesn't come out very often, thus making them more prone for criminal activity of some kind.
Stop The Briefing deliveries, call 214.977.8333.
Stop Allen American deliveries, call 972.424.9504.

And why is it okay for these papers to be thrown on my yard without my permission?
Yes, I pick up that junk and toss it in the recycle bin but I would rather they NOT do it in the first place. Now I have to make a phone call to stop it!
Same applies for the WORTHLESS yellow pages that continues to be dropped on my porch just to be carried to the recycle bin!
The "green" thing to do would be for these companies to STOP killing trees by printing this junk that most people just throw away!

I read them. I requested they be dropped on my sidewalk and we always pick them up. The regular DMN was getting too expensive and I don't always have time to read that much of a newspaper, so I find the Briefing just enough information. I also like the fact that I get the coupons with the Saturday Briefing paper.
I also get The Allen American and read the articles of interest in there. They also have coupons, although they are usually the same coupons I got the weekend before in the Briefing. But, that is okay since I sometimes do use multiple coupons when stocking up on items I use that are on sale.
When I'm done with all the papers, they go into my recycle bin.

I'll take your Allen Americans and Saturday Briefings for the coupons.

It baffles me that they still print yellow pages. #googleit

That's a good question. Perhaps you could ask the same for those who hang advertisements/coupons on your front door handle. Why are people hanging those on our front door?
You never know. One call from you and me cancelling delivery may lead to other callers cancelling theirs, thus allowing for the newspapers to reconsider whether they should deliver free papers or not.
The money saved on printing and delivery to people who wish not to receive them could be used to continue free delivery for those would do wish to receive them.
