So good to know a tree farm is close by! I've nearly been tempted to drive back to Edgewood or Canton to get something decent...

Why would you drive back to East Texas to buy trees? We have plenty of reputable nurseries around here that sell some very nice trees that are the best selections for our area.

Since I'm more familiar with the tree farms/nurseries out that way, that's why I'd consider going back out there. I used to live in Terrell and would frequent Edgewood/Canton often.

Perhaps you might mention others close by that I could try out. I'm just not familiar with buying trees around here, other than Home Depot, Walmart, etc.

The local nurseries I recommend are (not in any particular order of best or worst since they are all good):
Puckett's Nursery (Allen Online advertiser - http://www.allenonline.com/index.php?option=com_mt... - on East Main St. in Allen
Trinity Gardens - on Greenville north of Stacy Rd. in Fairview
Creative by Nature - on McDonald St. just north of El Dorado in McKinney
Trinity Tree Farm - located on Hwy. 380 west of Hwy. 75
Shades of Green - on Coit Rd. north of Sam Rayburn/121 in Frisco
Fannin Tree Farm - Hwy. 121 near Custer

I have shopped at all the above nurseries/tree farms except for Fannin Tree Farm. I have not ever needed a tree as large as what they sell there since we have always bought trees in a small container/small caliper. I have found that the smaller trees establish quicker and their growth usually catches up with a larger tree because those larger trees take longer and more care to get established (not to mention they do cost more).

But, I do hope that Fannin Tree Farm has a good turnout for their Arbor Day celebration. It sounds like a fun family event.

I agree...Gunters is awesome! Bought several trees there, and had them delivered & installed.
