Is anyone else getting these calls? This same idiot keeps calling. He has a thick Indian accent (not that there's anything wrong with being from India or having a thick Indian accent), and each time introduces himself as being from the "Technical department of Windows" (yeah, right). Sometimes, he spews something about my computer having errors. I've told repeatedly to stop calling.
There is something obviously underhanded with this outfit. Has anyone else had to deal with them? So far, the only thing online that I've found on them so far is Link
Edit: Some more info at http://money-watch.co.uk/8459/microsoft-warn-on -phone-scam It looks like if you talk to them long enough, they try to do a remote session on your computer, and then try to sell you a subscription to keep viruses off your computer.

Well known scam. I wish I had a totally infected PC I could let one of those idiots connect to. They direct you to Teamviewer.com to get remote access to your PC. I had to completely rebuild my mother's PC after one of these calls. I just wasn't sure what they could have done in the short amount of time they were in before she called me about these suspicious people in her PC.

My original intent of posting was to increase awareness for others, and I was a little curious to see if anyone else knew anything about this scam operation.
My priority now is to get this @#$%#@# to stop calling me. I'm sure that he's called a dozen times. I've pleaded and yelled at him, and even called him unflattering names. I don't think that I'm dealing with a genius, so I'm wondering whether there is a key word in his script that will instruct him to remove me from the call list. Maybe:
1. I don't own a computer.
2. My computer is an Apple
3. My computer is Linux
4. I work at Microsoft
5. Can I take your order?
Any suggestions? I feel like I'm dealing with a stupid robot.

Microsoft does not have a "Technical Department" that randomly calls consumers. Seems that should do it. Tell the genius you have contacted the Mumbai police here (Commissioner of Police, Mumbai 2-262-0826).

After four rings on a number I don't recognize it hits my voicemail. I don't talk to them, I don't get annoyed, I don't try to convert them from a life of crime, most of the time they don't leave a message anyway...it works for me.

I don't have that option on my business line, which is where I'm receiving the calls. It wouldn't be a wise business choice.

I haven't received any calls like the OP mentioned. Hopefully, I won't. I receive too many other calls as it is, even though I'm on the national no-call list.
Apparently, my land line phone number belonged to a local business prior to being assigned to me. Each call I receive from Google advertisement I press the option to remove my listing from their database, yet I continue receiving calls. Very frustrating. I don't receive enough of them to justify changing my number, but the few I do receive get old after a while...

We had a similar issue with calls from collection companies. We have lived in Allen for 3 years and have had the number since we moved in. Whoever had it before us apparently did not pay their bills. Most of the collection calls listen and actually take you off their list when you tell them that they have the wrong person. I will usually explain it to them one time. After that... our phones have the ability to block calls at the handset where it rings once and then sends the caller a busy signal. They are by Panasonic and are great for that. We have been getting a lot of calls that the caller ID says is "ANNOUNCEMENT" which after searching online is a mass advertiser for many companies. They call hourly but all I hear is one ring. I don't know if your business will allow you to change the phone but you can always ask.
Also, I don’t know how many people realize that Microsoft cannot see inside your computer to tell if you need help. They only reach out to you when you call them for help and it is not for free unless you have a service level agreement. Never let anyone have access to your computer… period.

Panasonic? Hmm, I'll have to look into that if the calls get worse.
My land line is for personal use. I've already switched numbers since the first number I was assigned wasn't compatible with accessing CallNotes voicemail -- it was long-distance to call into Richardson, where the voicemail access number is based out of. So, I had to get a metro line to resolve the issue. Exact same thing happened when my employer requested a business phone line for me to work from home.
It's one thing to get a wrong-number call from someone. At least I can politely tell them they have the wrong number, which I've done a fair share of, again, since I have a former business's phone number. It's another when telemarketing automated systems take on a mind of their own and do their own thing, regardless of what I do to try and put a stop to them...
