We have had gecko's on our back patio for 10 years keeping our bugs away. We usually count around 10 or so on our screened in patio but have only seen one. Today, we found one suffering outside during the day but they are nocturnal. We usually have all sizes including babies.

Any idea what could be happening?

The only thing that I can think of is perhaps you use chemicals on the lawn or bug spray. We do not use any chemicals in the back yard nor do we use bug spray in the yard, because of the dog. But we have all shapes and sizes of gecko's on our patio. In the evening it's fun to watch them crawl on the house and on the patio.

We haven't used any chemicals at all. I am very sad because we have enjoyed their company for years. I wish I knew what it was.

It is possibly a neighbor who has used some sort of insecticide and those insects traveled to your yard where the gecko ate it. Or, the gecko could have gone to a neighbor's yard where there was something recently sprayed and it absorbed through their skin. They are sensitive little creatures and very beneficial to our environment.

That is great! I hope they eat a lot of bugs from your patio!

We watched one on the back door screen eat a giant moth last night. Haha He worked really hard at it! We love to watch them.
