I usually follow my Gas Buddy app to find the cheapest gas. Yesterday the cheapest around was Tom Thumb on McDermott and 75, at $3.49 for regular unleaded. At the pump, it showed $3.49 indeed. After I entered my phone number for my reward card account, the price was the same at $3.49! So they just quietly removed the discount offer. I looked around and they no longer had the signs for the 3 cents discount. The discount based on points you earn by shopping at their store was still there though.

Not that this is a complaint, as businesses are free to end any discount offers at any point. Just thought it's not worth digging out your reward card or punching in your phone number to buy gas, unless you have points earned from the store you're redeeming.

I wonder Kroger is ending theirs too?

I'm hoping Kroger & 7-11 @ Exchange/Greenville will have a price war when 7-11 opens...that Kroger location is always higher as it has no comp near & gas station is always busy.

I didn't get a discount a couple of weeks ago either and points do not carry over from month to month I was told by a Tom Thumb employee. I spend a lot of $ in Tom Thumb:(

Yesterday I got 10 cents off a gallon. I usually get between 10 to 30 cents off a gallon, but every once and a while I pay what's on the pumps, which is usually competetive with what others are offering.

McKinney Ranch Pkwy @ Lake Forest. Go north from Lifetime Fitness @ 121, to the next street light.

Not convenient if you live on the east side of 75.

Wonder if the new Wal-Mart will have a gas station? I've been avoiding that area due to the construction. Has anyone seen a pump station? Considering there are NO other gas stations in that part of town, I sure hope they sell gas!

Have not seen any or an idea that there might be one. There is a RaceTrak or something like that going up on Stacy next to the outlets.

You have to use either a Walmart credit card or gift card to get the 15¢ off. If you commute south on 75 and drive past Midpark, there is a Murphy/Walmart gas station at that exit (after Microcenter). That's where I fill up weekly when I'm in the area. The gas is usually cheaper there to begin with - the added 15¢ off is a great bonus.

If you're using a gift card, make sure you have more than enough money to fill your tank. By the time your card's balance is down to the last few dollars, the pump fills literally by the drip as the station doesn't want to run over and lose money to you. It's painfully slow.

Tom Thumb did have signs posted at the pumps about no longer having the 3 cent discount, it started on the first I believe. I know for sure the one at Alma and Hedgecoxe did.

Discounts on gas could be really helpful. Groceries are costly, and so are gasoline. Anyone still uses a club card ? Combining the two at a store with a club card and service station, however, and the fuel rewards are worth a while.

I like to shop at Tom Thumb. It is right accross the street from where I work. About a month ago Hubby got 40 cents/gal. off gas and I already have at least another 10 or 20 cents off built up on my reward card again. I really do plan to cut down on my shopping though and that will mean less gas reward points.

If you purchase a $100.00 gift card at Kroger (not sure about Tom Thumb) you can get 2X or 4X off your fuel cost. This month (all month) at Kroger on Fri Sat and Sun if you have a club card you get 2X the points when shopping. I know there are some who don't like Kroger, but for those that do there is a little more savings this month. If you are going to buy groceries at one of those stores anyway, you can just use your gift card to pay.

The Kroger on McDermott and Alma tends to have the cheapest gas.
