My dad was born and raised in south Chicago and has spent much of his 50 years in Texas searching for the best Chicago style food. He recently found a place in McKinney that lives up to his expectations. Tony's on Virginia (go west off 75- on the north side of the street just before Randy Lee) sells Vienna Beef sandwiches and hot dogs.
The beef comes on Gonnella bread so order it wet without worries of it all falling apart, get it with peppers to add some spice to your life.
If you have never had a Vienna beef hot dog, you must give it a try. The natural casing offers a satisfying 'pop' when you take that first bite and Tony's serves it Chicago style on a poppy seed bun.
My dad had the Italian beef and sausage combo and loved every bite. They serve other things too so all of us ate happy.
I highly recommend giving them a try.

Thanks for the heads up. Since leaving Chi Town, I've been searching for a good Italian Beef. I will definitely give it a try.

Now, I need to qualify that my dad still goes back to Chicago to get the BEST beef sandwiches but he was impressed with Tony's and has actually gone back for more, which rarely happens.

So glad to have read your post! I moved here from Chicago and am always looking for some authentic, classic, chicago fare. Now if I could just find pizza puffs!
