Dallas Morning News referred to the players as "lower-level NFL prospects" and "marginal talents." I'm not a football expert so others will have to decide whether they agree. Even so, they're still the talented lucky ones who got to play Division I ball. Most high-school players don't even get that chance.
Tickets were too pricey. I don't know what colleges are charging to getting into their games these days, but maybe game sponsors need to lower the price and sell it as an affordable opportunity to see college players. I saw there what I assumed to be players' families decked out in college colors. They had a vested interest in the game. I saw band families there with a vested interest in the halftime show. ;) I saw kids there thrilled to get one last chance to see Uzoma Nwachukwu -- who I think got some of the biggest cheers. If you want to draw casual fans, though, who'd just like to spend a nice Saturday watching some college ball with their kids, you really should lower the ticket prices.
I don't know how heavily the promoters marketed the game. I've known about it since November because of my band kid. I know AISD sent out announcements about it. Was it advertised in Dallas at all? I wonder if they should have reached out to rec football leagues and offered group ticket deals so the kiddos could come out and watch.
