I have just moved to working at home, I got a phone from Staples (AT&T phone)the phone outlet is connected to the Uverse box. I can receive phone calls on the phone, but I can't dial out. I have two co-workers that are working from home as well - they have the same phone - but the phone outlet is from the wall. They do not have issues with the phone.
Is there something I am doing wrong or do you have to have a special phone for Uverse?
When I called the phone tech line they told me to exchange the phone, we did (didn't work still issue) I called Uverse they said it was not them it was the phone that has the problem, becauae Uverse phone is suppose to work as a landline - I think something isn't working - can someone shed some lite on my issue?
Thanks.

Keep pressing Uverse ... the type of phone you're using shouldn't matter. I'm using the same phone I've had for years and it works fine on Uverse.

I used to have Uverse phone and didn't have any issues, nor did I have a special phone. It worked with the cordless set we have used w/ other service and also with a corded phone. The only issue with the phone that I can think of is check to see if it still has a tone/pulse switch and if so, that it's set to tone. Trying to call with pulse won't work.

I have a home office and I have Uverse for internet, but cancelled the phone service and switched to Obihai (http://obihai.com/)

No monthly bill. Inbound and outbound calls are free. Free long distance in the US. Use my regular cordless phones that I have had for years. Caller ID works great.

Having no phone bill is great.

Well after being on line with them for about an hour yesterday - come to figure out not all phones are compatible with Uverse and they believe that is the case here.

The suggest I get a Lan Line - so for work that is what I will have to do, as they want me to use the phone I got.

This is been a big transition for me, we had to get the bill separated from Uverse as I had cable, internet as a bundle - then we had to get a home phone for us moving to home offices. For work we needed the internet/phone and the cable on separate bills, internet/phone on one and cable on one. Will Uverse can not do this, so I had to change to DirecTV for my cable, now the phone doesn't work, so now I will be getting a separate bill for all three. So, now all I have with Uverse is Internet - Funny how things work out.
Hopefully getting the Lan Line will work, will find out on Thursday - if not I may be back (lol)

I have UVerse internet and use a MagicJack for my house phone. Works great.

I also have Directv, and it's bundled in with the ATT Uverse bill.

We have MajicJack for our home phone as well couldn't be happier with it. Uverse voice was nice, but I couldn't justify the price since we rarely use it. I just need to have a phone at home for my kids who don't have cell phones.
