As mentioned in the Iron Man 3 review I had the chance to see a few movies while out of town on business last week. Unfortunately, After Earth should have been skipped.
After Earth:
Will Smith is most likely the biggest name in Hollywood for many reasons. He usually is great in just about anything he is in. Sadly... this was not one of those times. It became pretty obvious soon after the movie started that HE is the sole reason this movie was made. The movie had a good plot and the effects and scenery was nice. However... the acting was awful. Apparently in the future, on the new planet, there are no speech therapists. For some reason all the characters had a weird, southern, drawl/slur. It sometimes made them difficult to understand and was very distracting. I applaud Will Smith for using his name to try and set his son up to be a big name actor... but this only hurt his cause in my opinion.
This would be worth a rental when it comes out just to hear how bad their speaking is.
