It is time to start planning our Thanksgiving menus and I was curious what is on your menu.
Our menu usually consists of:
Turkey
Bread Dressing/Stuffing
Sweet Potato Casserole
Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
Cheesy Beans (green beans in a homemade cheese sauce)
Rolls
a selection of pies: chocolate meringue, lemon meringue, pecan, pumpkin, banana cream, etc.
So, what's on your menu?

My kind of Thanksgiving dinner, lots of pies!
People always ask if my carrot soufflé is sweet potato casserole. It's always a favorite.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I normally deep fry a brined turkey. However this year I bought the CharBroil Big Easy InfraRed Oil-less turkey fryer. The reviews I read make it sound almost the same as deep fried in oil... only healthier. I use the World Market Turkey Brine... it is awesome. Occasionally I'll inject one with Créole Butter if we have a need to make two birds due to more guests than normal.
So... the menu...
The turkey as prepared above
Homemade Mashed potatoes
Sweet Potato casserole (tastes like a dessert!)
Green Beans
Turkey Gravy
homemade Sweet potato rolls
Either homemade stuffing (I try a new one each year) or traditional stuffing
Homemade Desserts: (No store bought in this house)
Maple Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie
Occasionally a Chocolate pie as well...

We won't eat until after taking our sweet Me-Maw her Thanksgiving dinner to Gracious Care nursing home and Pa Pa feeds her. Please remember those who can no longer cook or feed themselves whether it be meals on wheels, a loved one or a total stranger in a nursing facility that don't have family to provide a Traditional Thanksgiving (or any other day or special day meal)Please if you can, do what you can
We'll be having
Sliced Turkey Breast & Cornbread dressing w/roasted turkey gravy & cranberry sauce
Spiral ham
Home made mashed potatoes
Yellow squash casserole (Hubby's favorite)
Dinner rolls
Tea/coffee
Cheesecake (variety sampler)
Maple Pumpkin bars (a delicious recipe from Kraft)
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving everyone

We're giving goose a try this year.
Spiral cut ham
Broccoli and cauliflower casserole with cheese sauce
potato salad (for something different)
Yams an marshmellows
Dressing (from a box because the rugrat loves Stovetop)
Selection of olives and pickles
Beer buns if hubby doesn't get tired of cooking otherwise storebought rolls
All (except potato salad lol) smothered in hobby's delicious holiday sauce.
Pumpkin pie and maybe pecan pie if a work friend is up to making it
Got a beloved friend living with us now so we shouldn't have enough leftovers to get tired of this year. Yay for hungry friends!

I've only had goose once. We bought it "fresh" from a lady who raised geese and ducks. She killed it and cleaned it for us. I remember it was a bit greasy (actually more than a bit) - a lot of fat that rendered off the bird while it cooked, but the meat was good. Be sure to roast it on a rack to keep it above the grease. I'm sure if others have cooked a goose, they might have another thing you're cooking a ham too.

Thanks for the tip! We thought it might be a little greasy but hadn't planned on the rack. Planning to now haha!

Market Street bakery has agreed to make me a batch of sourdough baguettes for Wednesday morning pickup (they don't normally use sourdough) . The manager of the bakery prepared a few this morning as a test and put diagonal slits in each baguette before cooking and they turned out like a row of pull apart sourdough buns. The way they cooked and the very unique shape of each bun, they could be displayed in the center of the table as a bouquet of pull apart buns. Just a thought if anyone is looking for a deliciously unique addition to the Thanksgiving table.
Update. I thought of what the baguettes look like and it's a stalk of wheat. It's very decorative.
