AISD's FB page announced the decision this AM and it was followed with over 70 comments. Soon after they made a posting stating they removed the comments because they were "inappropriate". They also removed nearly 100 from last evening. Many parents were complaining about the decision.
I don't doubt the buses can arrive safely but part of the decision must consider the fan base and auxiliary groups attending. I made a drive to the HS area this AM and the roads were horrible.
I hear the roads are clear and fine past Hillsboro. I encourage people to stay home and not risk it. You can go online and listen to the game.

I know the travel concern is real, but whether or not the fans or band for that matter make it, they need to play this game today...they are ready and that is what matters.
Waiting until Monday would put them off their schedule so much they would be in a position of not being ready to play at their peak...and that applies to BOTH teams.
Let's hope and pray for the safe travels for all that are making the trip, and the rest of us can listen to the game on the internet. Go Eagles!

Allen put a good explanation out on their Facebook page about the thought process used to make the decision to travel and play the game today.

I don't think there was one great, clear decision. My best wishes for safe travel to those players, students, parents and fans making the trip down and back.
Let's be careful out there Eagle nation and help each other out.
There is a hot cup of cocoa for you all when you get back. And if you were the driver for the trip, you might want to add a little something to the mug.
Weather aside, the trip through the construction zone (TWICE!!) is enough for me to skip the trip.

Here's the truth: (and direct quote from the school, not what they posted on FB).

It's very sad. You recognize the 'risk' and hold back the other participants to minimize the risk. I don't want to hear anyone tell me there was 'no risk'. Even the school recognizes the risk.
Every other DFW school made the right decision to postpone until Monday.

The statement on WFAA's site is EXACTLY the same as what was posted on Facebook. You're just looking for something to complain about.

The other portion:
There has obviously been a lot of interest and commentary on the decision to proceed with the football game today. As mentioned in a comment earlier - here is some information that may help explain what and why.
There were many administrators, coaches and directors involved in making the decisions this morning. There were staff members on the road at 4:30 a.m. driving to check highways to Austin and others at the schools working to make the best decision under the difficult weather circumstances.
According to the charter company and the staff members who drove south on 75 and I-35 this morning, the highway is safe for travel.
Let's go!!!! It's safe.

It was an unnecessary risk. It also tells me where they stand with the band. It's always football, will always be about football, and nothing is even close to football. Band? Cheer? Putting 700 to 800 kids out on the field doesn't prove relevance. A decision like the one today tells me where all the other programs stand.

Seventy comments removed this morning, 100 removed last night. Was all of them inappropriate? If it was profanity that is understandable, but if they were just negative reactions that's suppression and censorship. Freedom of speech denied because of negative comments! This is not a good example for our students. It's bad enough that transparency is in question with some decisions of the school board, now this.

You can rant all you want to (as long as it remains within Facebook guidelines) on your private FB page. Allen ISD doesn't allow "freedom of speech" in their classroms so why should the general public get to say whatever they want on the AISD FB page? Quit trying to make a big deal of something that isn't! There is no way everyone was going to be happy with the decision.

We are not good winter drivers, so we didn't make the trip. I appreciate everyone who did, though. They sounded good and loud on the radio broadcast! Excellent cowbell work!
