5A is now 6A, 4A is now 5A, etc., etc. McKinney probably "dropping" to 5A and Highland Park is leapfrogging from 4A to 6A.
and am I blind, or did this guy completely omit the reigning state champion Allen Eagles from his article?

He not only left Allen off... he has the numbers wrong on all the top schools. He even has Plano East 1,300 low. So much for what he calls "Below is one of the most complete lists of snapshot numbers you will find anywhere"
Here are the schools over 4,000 students.
His list
Plano 5740
Plano West 5701
Plano East 4775
Galena Park North Shore 4481
Deer Park 4209
Laredo United 4160
Duncanville 4149

Those UIL numbers are not from this school year. I think Allen is 5985 or close to that, and is now bigger than Plano East.

According to the AISD and PISD web sites, Allen High currently has an enrollment of 5985 (AHS and Lowery combined) and PESH has 5382 (PESH, Williams, and McMillen combined).
Since the last UIL realignment in 2012, PISD realigned their High School attendance zones to balance out the enrollment of their 3 senior highs. PESH shrank significantly, while PWSH grew quite a bit.
