Anyone know when this place is going to be open? I'm not a huge sandwich eater, but they do make pretty good sandwiches IMO, and it looks like they're going to deliver.
As I told my wife "Awesome, a third unhealthy delivery option behind pizza and Chinese" :)

Not sure when that one opens...but I get JJ's occasionally, and if you do it right can be made fairly healthy....I always get the 'unwich' with no mayo, basically the sandwich wrapped in lettuce with no bread. Sounds pretty bad, but I really like it :)

I grabbed a "Billy Club" (the sandwich, not the weapon :)) tonight, and it was pretty good. I'm not a big sandwich eater, but I'd go here again.

We ate there last night. Good sandwiches, quick service, and not too crowded. We'll be back soon! Gotta try one of the bigger sandwiches next time!

Try the multi grain bread. It's a $1 more but I like way better than the other bread they use.

Finally had a chance to get to it today. Had the "Gargantuan" with hot peppers on the yummy french bread. It was quite large and full of meat. Just the sandwich is enough to fill up a grown man. Still a great sandwich, just the way I remember it

I give Jimmy John’s a thumbs down. A sandwich shop in this region of the country that doesn’t include cheese is not understanding their market. Their sandwich was good. The facility was nice. It cost $4.95 but add $0.85 for cheese. So that’s $5.80 for a sub with no chips or drink. If Subway weren’t around, then Jimmy John’s would get a good rating because cost/value wouldn’t be a consideration. But Subway has multiple choices for cheese plus multiple choices for bread! Subway has more vegetables which is only a mild positive for me but a huge positive to my wife.
Thus, Jimmy John’s gets a thumbs down.

I've found that Jimmy John's is 98% runny mayo, .2% unidentifiable smeat, 1% soggy lettuce and the rest unappealing bread.

Isn't that about normal anywhere? I know that's what it is at Great Outdoors and Jersey Mike's is actually more. Only thing cheaper would be $5 subway which are only the most basic sandwiches with probably the lowest quality meat in the market

You raise a fair question. I was comparing to Subway and can't speak to the quality of the meat, which seemed fine to me at both places. But you might be aware of something more premium in the meat at Jimmy Johns. I haven't eaten at the other 2 places you mentioned. Overall, my wife and I found a huge preference to Subway. My wife was particularly partial to the vegetables at Subway.

I don't like cheese on my subs. I think cold cheese on a sandwich is gross. I'm from Dallas.
Speak for yourself! I'd be happy to save $.85 at Subway by not getting cheese.
BTW, a #15 on wheat with lettuce, tomato, mayo and a little bit of red wine vinegar at Great Outdoors is TDF! I wish GO was closer. You should go there. These shops are not on par with Subway. It's like comparing Smashburger or Five Guys to McDonalds. There's no comparison. Subway is an Oldsmobile. It's cheap for a reason.
Haven't been to Jimmy John's yet, but saving $ by not ordering cheese on my sub is a check in the PRO column for me!

The great favorite sandwich war could shape up to be as contentious as the great favorite Tex-Mex war!
Great Outdoors is our favorite, too, and I also we had one closer. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Subway, but my daughter thinks the veggies at Subway are "gross". I've tried the JJ's in Richardson and I liked it okay but I wasn't knocked out. I might still prefer it to Subway.

Try a #13 Italian at Jersey Mikes! Mmm it's awesome any day. They slice the meat and cheese only when you order. They don't have 100 veggies to choose from like Subway, only lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles, but they look really fresh every time. If you order a hot sub it's not meat reheated in the mw. They cook the meat on the griddle when you order. I am on their email list so once in a while I get a coupon for free chips & drink, then a regular sub meal is about $7. There's also a card you can get to earn points, it's about 1 free sub for every dozen or so.
I've tried to order a Subway Italian back in January when they're promoting the $5 foot long, and it just didn't taste right. The #13 at Jersey Mikes I can eat that everyday if health is not an issue. I wish there's one in Allen. The closest ones from here are on 75/Park and 121/DNT.

I concur, #13 at Jersey Mike's, Mike's way w/"juice" is the greatest. If you haven't been to JM in Plano I strongly encourage it. It is the Cadillac of sandwich shops. And yes, subway is the Oldsmobile. I was hoping for JM in Allen even though it's not that far away, but can live with JJ even though it's not AS good.

Where I agree with you that subway meat is disgusting, I don't agree with the shiny meat argument. You really should post the article that your picture is from explaining why rainbowing of meat is neither uncommon or unhealthy

Ate at JJ's once and doubt I will ever go again. Didn't have much taste, bread was to thick for my liking and they don't allow salt & pepper.
That's right, no salt & pepper allowed. Sorry but I like me some S&P on my sammies. Why would a place not allow salt & pepper?
Will stick with Which Wich or even Subway.

Do not order from Jimmy John's if you are going to have your food delivered. Some of the ladies in my office just ordered sandwiches and they charge a delivery fee per item ordered. One of the sandwiches was $5.95 and they charged a separate delivery fee of over $7 for that sandwich. So the sandwich cost over $13! Every delivery fee was more than the cost of the sandwich. It does say on their menu that "Delivery orders will include a delivery charge per item" but no where on the menu does it list what the delivery charges will cost. Yes, they called and spoke to the manager to complain, but were simply told there is a delivery charge per item. Probably good thing they didn't order chips on the side. It would have been $3 delivery fee on top of the cost of the $1.39 bag of chips.

So is it only the location on Exchange that charges a delivery fee? There's a Jimmy Johns in Frisco on Parkwood near my office and I placed an order for delivery for lunch today (and do so at least once a week) and there was no delivery charge added to my bill. I checked my ordering history for the last few weeks and there's never been a delivery fee added.

I just checked the web site to order from the Jimmy John's in Frisco and noticed that if you order for pick-up that a plain slim costs $3.99, but if you order for delivery it costs $5.75.
All of the sandwiches are more expensive if you have them delivered.

Thanks Joe, I never realized that. Everytime I've gone to their website I've selected "Delivery". Never crossed my mind to click on "Pick Up". That's a pretty sneeky way of doing business. They've lost a customer for good.

Now to be fair, surely you would all expect there to be some type of charge for delivery? I have never been to Jimmy Johns, but if they have staff on hand specifically for deliveries, they've got to recover this cost (and should make some profit off it too). The delivery person is prob earning min wage of $7.25, and perhaps it takes them 20-30 min round trip for deliveries, plus gas. And yes every business needs to recoup for some corporate overhead. With saying all of that, there should be a reasonable markup on the items (not over 100% as noted in the first postings) But a sandwich that is $3.99 for pickup or $5.75 delivered is reasonable to me.

But it doesn't cost any more to deliver two sandwiches rather than one to the same location. I think this is the issue and not that there is a delivery charge.

I don't mind paying a delivery fee, but tell me that I'm paying one, don't embed it into the price and not tell me.
If SB had not posted about checking the "pick up" price, I would have never known. On top of the cost of my order of approximately $10, I was tipping the driver $3 for his "troubles".
The Jimmy Johns delivery guys probably make 2 dozen delivies into our building each day, sometimes there's two here at the same time.

We have been less than impressed with Jimmy Johns and their "corporate policies". We went in to the restaurant a couple weeks ago and ordered several slim sandwiches to go so that we could use them to pack in lunches for the week. As it turned out, one of them was going to be eaten that night so after we ordered we asked if we could have lettuce on one of them (and then a mustard packet), since they only carry the dijon mustard. Granted we asked for the lettuce after ordering it, but they wouldn't give it to us. I offered to "buy" a side of lettuce, but they said that I needed to go back and order a sandwich that had all the fixings and just say w/o everything except for lettuce, so in this case it would have been w/o mayo, tomato, cheese. They said it was corporate policy to not modify a slim sandwich, which I guess I can see, but seriously, it was a bit ridiculous. I was going to pay $3 more for a sandwich to modify, just for lettuce. Needless to say, we just left w/o the lettuce and I threw some lettuce on it at home.
