I was just reading the article from the DMN.
A couple statements in that article raised my eyebrows:
1. "Several trustees also said that the administration must focus on Lowery Freshman Center, which is in the district’s old high school building."
Seriously?..... Okay, the building needs some capital improvements and they will get done, but lets focus on the district as a whole please.
2. Allen ISD needs an innovative leader, trustee Jason Shepard said. “So much of education is still that typical, classic ‘bring the kids in eight hours a day, butts in seats’ kind of mentality. That’s [what] our funding formulas are based on. We want someone who can help us find alternatives that the state can support.”
What is the heck is he talking about? Remote classrooms?

You're not going to have a superintendent find 'alternatives'. That's for our legislators.
Jason is suggesting he can come up with something other than the funding per pupil based on attendance. Interesting choice of words but I get what he's saying. Unfortunately, only legislators can get something changed regarding the funding.
We need innovative thinking to work within the current system, thinking ahead and projecting numbers ahead of schedule so we can make cuts when necessary, call for TRE's when only needed, and to aggressively work with what we have as a district.
Good move for this new superintendent. Last school district pay; $140,000 per year. Helvey was at 225k. So I'm sure the new guy is getting a nice 'bump' in pay.

Louise was pitch perfect, though.

Did they even look for a superintendent with a STEM background? I want to be able to speak to them about science, not football and school administration. We are already paying a large number of assistant superintendents ( close to $100,000 each). IF they are doing their jobs the boss does not need the exact same skill set. Let the superintendent LEAD and implement ways to teach things that will allow kids to excel in the market.
A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

We won't know who they looked at. Other than knowing 43 applied, 7 were interviewed, and one was chosen, we won't know anything else.
I am happy they found someone they could all agree upon and I hope it was synergy rather than compromise.
I also sincerely hope Dr. Hindt turns out to be a very successful superintendent.
