Thought it might be useful to have a link to the AISD Board web page here.

I want people on the board who will not unnecessarily waste money in their decisions on future projects. There's a lot that can be learned from the past. If there are people running who want first-class amenities at the best possible price (not wasting millions on land or whatever), then that's who we should be voting in.
It's not about grinding an axe. It's about learning from past mistakes. Again, people who you deem anti-whatever didn't want to live with what we had. They wanted to be able to have the new facilities at better prices. Not make hasty decisions that waste millions of taxpayer dollars.

There are still a few candidate who don't have a website up yet. Please post them if you find them.

Went to Chamber of Commerce Eggs and Issues forum this morning. Paul D. Jackson III was conspicuous by his absence.

Louise mentions on her website: "The Board must work with our legislators to ensure that education is sufficiently funded."
How has anyone of our board members worked on this issue? Can you please list some examples?
Other than suing the state I haven't seen 'real action' on getting the legislators to better the situation. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and I've seen no real work on this situation.
http://www.dallasnews.com/news/education/headli nes...
But since Louis mentions having relationships with all the legislators I'd like to know how she's been involved with creating a better plan.
I'd like any example other than last year's March meeting where she took a token picture with Leach.
Passive on progress, passive on large decision making. Passive is just bad for our school district.
From her website: The district is welcoming a new superintendent and embarking on a new strategic plan, as well as a new Project Kids this fall to look at any remaining facilities needs. It is imperative that we have a Board leader who was part of setting that vision be involved in implementing it.
After they purchased the second lot for the bus barn, at a greater cost than the first, she's on record in an interview with channel 8 stating they could still change that location because it was "frustrating and difficult to please everyone." Wow. That's not a leader in my book. How do you waiver again after changing it the first time? Weak leadership... I don't want her in charge of implementing anything else. She might have a 'vision' but she changes her mind too much.

From Mark Jones' response:
We need discretion in lowering and raising the tax rate without the need for additional TRE elections. State Representative Bennett Ratliff proposed a bill last year giving school districts local discretion. His bill had the support of every representative and senator; however, it was vetoed by the governor.
I believe Mark is talking about HB 671
http://www.house.state.tx.us/news/press-releases/?...
This bill was approved 5-0 in the House Ways and Means Committee with 4 members absent. On April 30, the bill passed in the House with a vote of 113 yea, 31 nay, and 1 present not voting.
The bill was then sent to the Senate and the legislative session ended with the bill still in committee in the Senate. It never made it to a vote in the Senate and it never made it to Gov. Perry's desk for veto.
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup/History.as...
This is a pretty major misrepresentation of fact on Mark's part.

I think it's time we consider cancelling the election and go ahead and name Wayne Bolin and Jimmy Trotter the winners. It seems everyone has the election decided before a vote has even been cast. It would be interesting to see a list of just how many who have used the new stadium as a point of disdain for the current board members that relinquished their season tickets in protest. I thought so.

I haven't heard a peep from any candidate regarding the stadium being a reason for their running. In fact, each had submitted the paperwork for running prior to any public knowledge of the stadium issue.
In a 'good year', as proven in past elections, you wouldn't see any competition. But this year is different from most. You have a board that has proven to be indecisive, micro-manages too many details, can't manage the funds well (TRE then a surplus without a tax cut), can't seem to project the student population, and hired the local 'good ole boy' who had never built a stadium before to build our $65m stadium.
These people are the governing board over a CEO and head of a $150m annual budget. Maybe Allen will start taking these positions seriously, not hire 'Ms. Popular', and realize the importance of the role these positions serve. I want people with proven leadership skills who aren't afraid to make tough decisions.
And....I don't need the 'hot air' anymore.

I actually never mentioned either candidate or their stances for why they are running. My reference was to all those who find making judgments from the cheap seats an easy task.
