Wow, the same contractor building the Bus Barn and they have been aware of the issues with the stadium before it was even opened?

Saw that story. I'll reserve judgement until
I hear how bad it is, but it does sound l like graduation won't be there this year.

It's bad enough to warrant shutting it down. No graduation, no home games next year.
If you owned 123 American Way, Allen Texas 75002 and you were making a monthly payment and you were told you had to move out of the house until the structural issues were resolved wouldn't you be upset? Someone should pay, right?
How many stadiums you see getting shutdown within the first 2 to 3 years?
Voter apathy and low participation is our problem. Hold your judgment like people hold back from voting.

This is gonna be great...we can now sit back and watch the anti bus barn crowd join forces with the anti stadium group in bashing the voters of Allen and the AISD...much more fun than waiting on the facts...

Any bets on how fast the contractor files bankruptcy?
The lawyers and bureaucrats will make out like bandits on all of this.
And we, the taxpayer gets bent again.

It is not unusual for a new structure to have defects. This does not support the perspective that the stadium was a bad idea. The contractor will not go bankrupt. They are a big company and surely well insured. How are "bureaucrats" benefitting from this? Taxes will not go up because of this. The problem has nothing to do with voter turnout and everything to do with concrete. The sky is not falling.

welcome back pup. I don't have kids either so I have no inside knowledge. But I have to agree with PUP, the lawyers will linger the fight of the blame.

Wonder why Pogue gets all the public construction contracts around here????
I can tell you this about construction, having worked for a general contractor for 15 years, building for a government entity or non-profit entity stinks! There are rules and regulations and red tape that private businesses don't have to deal with. You can hire whatever subcontractor your owner can afford, whereas the government will go with the lowest bidder. My company did ONE school, and swore they would never do another non-profit. And they never have. Pogue specializes in schools and government work, they understand the hoops that have to be jumped through, and have apparently built their business on it. Not many are willing to. It takes a special kind of person to be a teacher, and similarly it takes a special kind of contractor to build non-profits. Pogue also builds McKinney schools and several other in the area.
I certainly wouldn't want to be in Ben Pogue's shoes right now, but I do have complete faith that they will make it right.

Right on what? People 'bashing the voters of Allen'???
Here are some facts. We have nearly 90k people in Allen. Every election we have about 5 to 10k show up. It's pathetic. I'm 'bashing' (your phrase) the people who are never involved. The 'voters' of Allen are 5 to 10k of the population.
You want to talk about the barn? The guy who built the stadium is the same guy building our barn. The same board who voted for the first barn location said, "never mind, we change our plans and we'll just buy more expensive land and forget about the first plot of land." That's like me telling my spouse, "Hey honey! I just paid 100k for this lot to build a house BUT I changed my mind and bought something for 150k and we'll just build on that lot!" When she asks me, "What about the first lot?" I'll just respond, "We scrapped those plans...who cares, wasn't 'really' our money anyway!"
As a taxpayer I expect more out of my School Board and district. Their methodology is horrible and they are clueless.
FYI, I voted for the $119m bond package so I wanted the stadium, bus barn, and arts center.
Back to my original example. You buy a house that the builder built for you. You are told you can't use it for months BUT you have to keep making payments. Your damn right I want accountability and I want answers. I'm paying for it and I wanted to use it. We as taxpayers built it and we want our district to enjoy it.
It's not rocket science. They shut down the stadium today.

A special person to build non-profits? WTH? You act like this guy is doing people a favor. This guy has made a MINT building schools, churches, hospital buildings, and renovating stadiums. And no, AISD has historically not gone with the lowest bid. There is no requirement to go with the lowest bidder. Heck, someone can bid twice as much and they can still pick them.
I wish I had several million in property. What a Saint of a guy doing 'non-profit'. Funny, real funny.

They all have, RW. This was a response to someone suggesting the man is doing us favors and insinuating that building for non-profit systems means little profits. Sorry you missed the larger message.

I remember the first game we went to, we were walking along on the north side between the visitor and home side and I looked down and saw a few very long cracks in the concrete. I pointed them out and said that you would think for 60 million, the stadium would at least look new when it opened.
I am praying that it is mostly cosmetic and wont really take as long as predicted to repair.

You have a funny way of twisting words to suit your own soapbox, which we are all very well aware of, as you repeat yourself in almost every post. I never insinuated that Pogue is doing us a favor by building our facilities. I'm saying that many commercial general construction companies stay away from schools, churches, government buildings. Pogue is simply one of the few that actually seek out government contracts. Plain and simple. Someone asked why Pogue does so many schools. I gave you the reason. Not endorsing them, not making excuses. This is their niche in the construction industry. Stop jonesying for a fight, de la Garza.

It's DeLaGarza, sir. I'm one of the few who aren't hiding behind a screen name.
You said, Not many are willing to. It takes a special kind of person to be a teacher, and similarly it takes a special kind of contractor to build non-profits.
Comparing this guy to a teacher is an insult to teachers. I guess Kanye is okay to suggest his concerts are like being a soldier in combat. Funny.
Teachers are well underpaid to do what they do so yes it takes a special kind of person to be a teacher.
No one asked you why he builds schools. Someone mentioned 'government contracts'. The person expanding the Exchange Parkway is getting nicely paid.
