This weekend our water has a very high level of chlorine odor. Smells like it is about 30% chlorine.

Much too high to consider drinking even though the NTMWD web page states, "This palatability change does not alter the quality of the drinking water provided to consumers."

Yes, I have noticed the odor. I generally only drink bottled water because I do not like the taste of the local water - it always tastes bad to me.

They periodically blast the system with chlorine to shock the system and clear out problems.

Trust me you would rather drink the chlorinated water than what it's trying to kill off.

You can let the water off gas the chlorine by letting it sit out in the refrigerator for 24 hours.

There is clearly something caustic in the water. I'm replacing rubber toilet stoppers almost yearly. Something in this water dissolves rubber like I've never seen before. My son's home is only five years old and hardly any water line can be shut off fully due to the rubber washers being completely deteriorated. Strange stuff.

Our water has eaten away the base of our faucets in our bathrooms.
