Not so fast...

You will need to change your passwords, but only after the site has completed the necessary security upgrades to resolve the problem. There is more information here, as well as a way to check to see if a particular site has been fixed already. Yahoo supposedly has. It will be a nightmare though determining when to change your password.

I despise Yahoo lately. I have changed my password so many times and they still get in and email spam. I know because I get that spam sent to my work email. And every time I change it, it gets harder and harder for me to remember what the hell I changed it to. Now it's so many upper case letters, so many lower case letters, and more than 1 number. And now they sign you out every 2 weeks and I have to basically reset it every time because I have no idea what ridiculous password I gave it. The number/letter requirement that has become so common lately that I usually use they say is too easy even though there is no significance to it. As soon as they add that I need a special character like my 401k signin I'm ditching Yahoo

It could also be that one of your devices has been hacked.

I think companies will begin to make announcements soon.

Many financials were not affected. However, if you use the same credentials for financial sites and regular sites then the user id and password may hve been compromised.

I have 3 levels of credentials that I use based on the risk of the site. Also, You can always prefix or postfix the site name into the credentials for example:

Userid: JaneDoeGoogle
JaneDoeYahoo

Password: AlabamaShakesGoogle2014!

Then use a password locker like Norton to store the passwords and a biometric (finger swipe) to access the sites.

If you change your Yahoo password at work, try changing it at home and see if spam is still sent. If you always change it using the same computer, I'd be suspect that you have an illegal executable that can watch your keystrokes. Of course, it could be someone getting your account info from Yahoo.
I worked at a government location. After the contract ended, some government employee or a contracting firm doing their IT services, got my Yahoo email password and sent a very nasty spam. I never saw it but a government employee sent me email saying how horrible I was to send something so nasty. I contacted the gov. manager and said I would never have done it; learned they had already found who had. Hope they fired the person and can ban the person from any future contracts, since they can come through contracting firm.

This site provides a list of sites that have been patched and those not affected, also waiting for response on a few.
