Nothing is definitive yet and in the end, nothing may come of it but NWS is already voicing concern that we're looking at a potential multiple day severe weather outbreak this weekend for both Saturday and Sunday. As a lot of people travel on the weekend, I thought it wouldn't hurt to post a heads up.

As I said, nothing is definitive yet but models are seeming to be in agreement that Saturday there will be severe weather to our west and Sunday will be severe weather in our area. This area does extend from Central Texas to Northern Kansas, so it is a very wide area and in the end we ourselves here may or may not see bad weather. But since it covers several states, I thought it wise to post it in case anyone plans on travel to our west on Saturday or in Texas, OK, or even Kansas on Sunday since the wording is rather strong from NWS in their forecast outlook, several days from the potential event. I've included a portion of it here, to show what I mean.
"...SIGNIFICANT MULTI-DAY SEVERE EVENT EXPECTED ACROSS THE SOUTH CENTRAL U.S. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...STRONG TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE..."

The storm prediction center doesn't normally use strong language like this, days out from a weather event unless confidence was growing that we could see bad weather. So keep this in mind if you have travel plans for this weekend, to be very mindful of the weather on both days. Updates will be posted as our own forecast becomes more clear.

I didn't post any more news on this because as the days wore on with yesterday being the deciding factor, everything pointed to this being more of an event to our east. That is very much the case right now as there have been two fatalities in OK and at least one in Arkansas. Ongoing tornadoes right now in Arkansas including a very large, violent tornado that has left a reported damage path 3/4 of a mile wide in what is being described as extreme damage. Very sad and tragic news for everyone affected by this.

Thankfully for us, we haven't had to face this and hopefully never will.
