I know this topic is tagged onto the end of another thread, but thought I would run it up as clearly on a new subject from the recent local election.
For those who do not know, Texas is an "open primary" state. That means you do not have to be a card carrying member of a particular party to vote in the primary. You can vote in whichever primary you choose on a cycle to cycle basis.
The only restriction really is that once you vote in a particular primary, you can only vote in the runoff for that same party. If you voted in the March primary, then you can only vote in that same party runoff. However, if you did NOT vote in the March primary, then you can still vote now and you may choose to vote in either party runoff.
There are four statewide races on the Republican runoff ballot and two statewide races on the Democratic runoff ballot.
You can view your sample ballot on the Collin County election website, the League of Women Voters has a voter guide with information on the candidates, and the DMN published endorsements this morning - which might send you either way!!
Early voting is this week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. M-F and election day is Tuesday May 27. You can vote any early location in the county this week, but need to go to your assigned polling place next Tuesday.
