Have you read the Sand County Almanac? It’s a book of essays/reflections written in 1949 by American ecologist, forester, and
environmentalist, Aldo Leopold, about land conservation. No other single book of American nature writing—with the exception of
Walden—has influenced ecological thought as much as the Sand County Almanac.
On Thursday, June 5th at 7:30 pm, the Allen Library “Bach to Books Series” will show GREEN FIRE, a documentary about Aldo Leopold and his philosophy of land conservation. So you ask, why am I interested in this film? If you’re interested in a sustainable future and the use of land, not only will the film provide thoughtful insights, but also the program will include Allen elementary, middle school, and high school students speaking about their efforts to understand, conserve and improve areas of Allen for future generations. And just for fun, there will be snacks for all - provided by Patina Green in McKinney. Plus, organic farmers Jack and Megan Neubauer of Pure Land Organics will showcase their organically grown offerings for sale.
