I'm cleaning house and found some old disks and CDs. What is the best way to destroy the old 3.5" disks and best way to destroy CDs? Someone showed me what would happen if you placed CD in microwave, but I don't think that is the best way; it didn't appear to hurt the microwave.

Wikihow.com says there are 4 ways to destroy cds.
1. wrap a single one in plastic and fold it till it breaks.
2. shred with a disc shredder.
3. use scissors but be careful because the disk will flake.
4. wrap it in a towel and hit it with a hammer.
Hope that helps!

Microwave works just fine for CDs. Magnets for floppies.
