I am kind of shocked to not see any post about the July 4th event this weekend in Allen or have I overlooked it? Who all is going, or where are some good spots to sit and watch it from without fighting the traffic? Any good spots to park at the event?

Depending on where you are coming from you can park and take the shuttle. I believe the HS is one location. We park at Story Elementary on Malone and walk the short mile to get there. Getting out is simple from there because most people going that way live there or turn from Malone onto Main before getting to the school. Over the years we have tried in the two neighborhoods near the park and were stuck for hours in traffic.

Going. Riding bicycle to and from. Best spot we've found to watch the fireworks is sitting just off Malone in the grass next to the field where they set them off.

This was our first and last 4th of July celebration at the park. After living here for 20 years we thought we'd take our 4 yr old granddaughter. The entertainment for her was fantastic. But when we got in line for a snow cone and waited for 25 minutes just to be told the snow cone was $7.50 each. And how do you tell your granddaughter no.
Then we got into a line for funnel cakes and waited 45 minutes and paid $8 for each cake, plus $2 for the lemonade. Then after paying we were told we had to get in another line to wait for our funnel cakes and that line took 30 minutes.
Then we set in the Veteran's designated area only to have people stand in front of us, so we couldn't even see the night's entertainment. Never again!

They allow you to bring a cooler with refreshments and snacks, so one issue can easily be solved. That stinks the crowd blocked your view. That has not been our experience. Maybe you could have asked a volunteer to help.

Not calling you a liar, I'm sure lines were long (there ARE 100k people there), but I'm pretty sure that waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes for a funnel cake is a gross exaggeration. We waited maybe 10 minutes for corn dogs, drinks and slushees and that was at 9:30 when most anyone that was going to be there was already there.

We waiting in the turkey leg/funnel cake line and it took maybe 20 mins tops. That was around 8pm. The lines were definitely long though and it did seem like it took forever.

We did bring a cooler and snacks but we had to have a $10 turkey leg. LOL...$10 for a flippin' turkey leg. Oh well..we were having fun and that's all that matters.

Man there were a boat load of people this year!!! So glad we live close enough to walk!

I guess you would be calling Ronald Rodenbaugh a liar as well, because he was behind us in the same line. The time was around 7.

I waited in no line for a snow cone from the Kona Ice truck (owned by Allen residents) at about 5pm. I walked by there around 6:30, and the line had about 10 people.

All of their snow cone options are under $7. In fact, 3 are $5 or less. You get a lei with the $5 version.
