Am I wrong, but I thought drones were illegal until the FAA puts the flying rules in place.
I know the technology has quickly exceeded the laws.

Is everyone assuming that "drone" was owned and operated by the City of Allen? I haven't seen any proof of that. I noticed it and it didn't bother me one bit. I'm sure if he had crashed people would have moved outta the way. It's not like it was a 747 crashing down at 500 mph.

My band kid tells me that they used a camera-equipped drone to film a promotional video the Escadrille did back in October. I wasn't at Celebration (my kid was but says she didn't see the drone) but now my first guess is that it was filming the crowd for the city's promo purposes, or possibly by one of the performing acts.
All the safety concerns voiced are certainly valid.

I was more worried about the drunk winch in the Ford F150 who was yelling at us (me and my 500 friends in the area) to get the hell off the road. More of the car culture entitlement attitude.

I guess I'd take the drone over the 500 egrets that were overhead last year.

The birds-eye picture was take by a quad-copter operated by ACTV (so I was told).
