Guarzófono Brass Ensemble will perform at 7:30 pm., Saturday, July 12, at the Allen Public Library, free. A renowned band from Colombia, Guarzófono focuses on the unpublished music from Colombian folklore. Celebrating 200 hundred years of Colombian independence, Guarzófono is touring the United States. Sponsored by Bach to Books and Columbia’s Institute of Culture and Patrimony of Antioquia (Instituto de Cultura y Patrimonio de Antioquia), this concert is free.
Guarzófono” is the winner of the Creative Talent in Antioquia award (“Talento Creativo de Antioquia”) for their project “Musical Journey through Wind” (Recorrido musical a través del viento) that features traditional music from Colombia. Their music focuses on the production of unpublished music from Colombian folklore, composing and creating a unique repertoire, and playing concerts to encourage the audience to appreciate traditional music blended with their own style, brand and outstanding choreography.
