I really don't want to be critical, but last night as I was flipping through channels, I caught the weather report on the local FOX news channel here in Dallas, and the "weatherman" (didn't get his name) was already complaining about the "unbearable" heat and how long it has lasted.
Let me think here... It's August, we're in Texas. We have had whatm, 2-3 days in a row without rain (maybe the second longest dry spell this year after 2 years without much rain at all), and this guy has to complain???
This is as bad as hearing others on the news (TV & radio) earlier this year after a week of rain asking when we're going to get some decent weather for a change.
Just one of the many reasons why I quit watching the news.
Sorry for venting...

Yeah, I don't watch that local channel anyway, but it is funny what is said sometimes. Last year we wanted rain, this year we wanted it to stop. Good things humans ain't in charge, 'cause we're never pleased.
And I'm about to get temporary relief on an A/C problem. So then I won't care what they say about August . Kiddin' of course, as I'm a big weather dude. Y'all keep your animals in mind during the heat.

I don't know what the actual temperature hit today, but at 1:15pm or so the heat index was at 104.

Someone made a comment to me Saturday about the heat and I just replied "In August in Texas, 90s is winter!"

Tell them to go spend a week or two in Phoenix. When they get back, they'll need to wear a sweater.

Have not made the magic triple digits, but we are under a "heat advisory" meaning it will "feel" like it is over 100 and won't be cooling at night.

It's hot all over the south. One thing they mentioned on the weather channel that was interesting was that on average, the Dallas area has about 19 days by Aug. 7 that are 100+ temperatures (not counting heat index here...), but this year, we have had zero so far.
Of course, after all this rain, not only do we now get the heat, but we also get all these wonderful insects in abundance - mosquitos, crickets, flies, etc.

Well, I am glad it is starting to cool down into the 90's now. Those meteorologists around here have to say some things to keep their part of the news interesting, right? I don't watch that station at night, but I do watch it in the morning. I really like their crew in the mornings. Evan Andrews is always good for a chuckle at times, but does give a good weather report.

I'm a weather nut, so that's the part of news stations I want to see. It's always fun to watch the reporters/forecasters in Weather when there is some event to report on. You can tell they get fired up or more animated when it's their time to shine.

Speaking of meteorologists/weathermen , does anyone know if David Finfrock on NBC has health problems? He frequently seems on the verge of coughing or gasping for air.

They did a story on David Finfrock and his "health problems" a while back. The gist of the story was that his health problem is shared by millions of people in this area. It's allergies.

I don't see him much, but I do think I've seen him tell about allergies.
