I have been under the impression that today was garbage pick up day in our neighborhood. Well imagine my surprise when I opened my garbage can and the contents were still in there. Maybe they are just running late. My recycling can was empty though. I just wonder if it was a holiday I was not aware of. But in that case, there definitely would not have been any mail. I live in Glendover Park.

Sorry I jumped the gun. They just came by.
Sorry about that.

It's OK. We needed a happy thought anyway.

We've had to call them about non-pickup's twice in the past 6 weeks.
The first time I called them on 3 consecutive days before they finally came out and picked up!
Hopefully this just an isolated incident and not a trend.

There have been days when they are running a little late. I've been told that is usually because the regular driver is on vacation and there is someone else driving their route.

LOL... or because they have to keep going back to get the ones they missed!

My approach was unique, but I don't recommend it nor would most do it. But it's a fun story.
After many times of having them drive right past mine (in my presence) and calling in about it, another option struck me one fine day. I drove to the next alley, and came up to them from the other direction. I stopped, and then leaned against the car like I was just hangin' out. They came over and said I must let them by. I said, only if you come back and get my trash, or I would continue this in the next alley (would prevent them from calling it an early day, haha). They promptly reported to my full trash can, and kindly collected same. No call required that time.

Ya do what ya gotta do sometimes. Like Bones said about Admiral Kirk once "it had the benefit of never being tried before".

Sounds like something a 2 year old would do!
