I don't shop at Brookshire's either, but worked there many years ago.
When Market Street opens, I will probably do a little bit of my shopping there when I need specialty items, but being the frugal shopper that I am, they'll have to have reasonable prices or do the double or triple coupon thing or have some good incentives to get me in there on a regular basis.

This Brookshire's person likes their assistance, as they don't put your stuff away except how you want it done. And they're family friendly to anyone that will accept it. I'm sure I'll try Market at some point, unless it's really busy and popular, then I'll wait for a slow time.

What are their prices like? I'd like to shop somewhere besides Kroger for most of my groceries but, since I buy sale items and use coupons (have to live within a budget ), Market Street will have to have good prices for me to shop there on a regular basis.

It's like every grocery store--their prices will be comparable or better on some things, and more on others. Even Central Market has cheaper prices than Kroger on certain things.
...except for Tom Thumb--they're more expensive for everything.

I have shopped at many different stores and found Walmart to be the cheapest overall hands down (buying the same items elsewhere can make a $200 shopping experience easily $240). If I go shopping at 8 am I normally see no lines so I can get in and out before the crowds form. The biggest thing is that I can get more than just groceries at one stop and save the gas driving from store to store. I use the big store on Ohio in Plano for most things and the smaller store in Allen for others. But there are some things they don't carry and Brookshires is closer to home so I usually supplement the larger shopping with Brookshires. Also those "run out of that" things I need to get occasionally. I hate being in a crowd just to pick up 2 items! When I only buy maybe 10 items at Brookshires, paying an extra 5 cents per item doesn't add up to much.

Tip isn't a concern, as they will readily tell you they are not allowed to take tips.
I love Market Street for specialty items or for meat/fish. Their fish has always been fresh! However I do wish they would let me take out my own bags... they DO accept tips and have never turned one down... which always makes me feel like I have to tip even when I only have a few bags which I very easily could have taken out myself if given the option. One time I forced the bagger to let me take my own cart out... the manager came running out after me and insisted that I let him help me.
That being said - I still go back for meat, fish and produce! The quality is so much better.

For everyone concerned about Market Street's prices, I did a little comparison shopping last weekend, and thought y'all might be interested in the result. I had been in the Kroger at Greenville and Exchange a couple of days earlier to pick up three or four items, and I knew a couple of the things I bought were significantly cheaper at Market Street. These are regular prices for the items that were on my grocery list.
1 gallon store brand milk $3.99 K $3.79 M
1/2 gal Tropicana Peach Punch $1.89 K $1.59 M
Dozen XL eggs--store brand $2.19 K $2.29 M
Yoplait light yogurt $0.69 K $0.59 M
Wheat bread--store brand $1.49 K $1.19 M
Ball Park Turkey Franks $4.49 K $3.69 M
Miracle Whip (18 oz) $2.99 K $2.99 M
Tomatoes on the vine $3.99 lb K $2.99 lb M
Purple onion $1.49 lb K $1.29 lb M
Bananas $0.44 lb K $0.50 lb M
Jif Peanut Butter (40 oz) $4.89 K $4.79 M
Coffeemate liquid (small) $2.09 K $1.79 M
Daisy sour cream (16 oz) $2.49 K $2.19 M
Treetop apple juice (64 oz) $2.59 K $1.99 M
Fischer & Weiser Plum BBQ sauce $7.69 K $6.99 M
Only the eggs and bananas were cheaper at Kroger. I bought 10 containers of yogurt and two of the peach punch, so if my math is right, I saved $5.94 by going to Market Street for these few items. Plus, they carry a lot of specialty items I can't find at Kroger, like Talenti Gelato (which is made in Dallas), Pedro's Tamales from Lubbock and Fat Tony's salsa, made in Panhandle, Texas. I like the fact that United/Market Street supports locally owned businesses like these throughout their service area.

You say those are "regular" prices. Does that mean the price without a Kroger card?

Yes, those are the prices without a Kroger card, because using the card is the equivalent of getting a "sale" price.

Last night, I ran to my (not so) friendly neighborhood Kroger at Greenville and Exchange to pick up two items on my way home from getting dinner. I started to go to Brookshire's but Kroger was on the direct route and I was already running late. Well, they didn't have one of the things I wanted--the rare and elusive 2 liter bottle of Cherry Coke that every other store in town has in mass quantities. Then I get to the counter, and the checker is already peeved because the woman in front of me (1) dared to question the price on one of the items he rang up and (2) wrote a check for her purchase. When my turn came, he never smiled, made eye contact or greeted me in any way. The only words to come out of his mouth during the entire transaction where "Kroger card?" (not even "Do you have your...") and "$4.64". No "thank you" either. BTW, this was not a teenager. In contrast, the girl who was sacking the groceries was friendly and nice. Maybe someone needs to give her an application to work at Market Street.

We moved from McKinney to Allen almost 3 years ago and ever week or two since, I drive to Market Street for groceries. It is well worth it. You'll get to try samples for new recipe ideas on Saturdays and find ingredients you can't find other places here in Allen. Plus, you won't feel dirty or frustrated after spending an hour or two there. Haha! I can't wait till the Bethany one opens!!

If you don't want someone taking your groceries out for you, don't go to that store, or just simply tell them you'll take your groceries out youself. There is no reason to ponder if they're going to give you a life-long story at your trunk. You paid for your groceries- take them out.

We still shop at the Kroger on West McDermott & Alma, even though it is across town for us. They are always friendly and helpful. I am not sure if I will shop much at Market Street. Have been to the one in McKinney, but still am satisfied with Kroger and I also go to Brookshires if I need just a few things. Just my preferences.

Just a quick note about Market Street! I have shopped at the one in McKinney, since it has opened. Their meat and veggies are great, and I think the cheapest priced around. Also, they price match. Bring in your ads, if you can find it cheaper, they will match it! I do this every week and save TONS of $$$$$$. I've developed a system to keep it organized, and it's not a big deal. I'm stoked they are opening soon!!
