It's almost as if they planned it....
The season finale of Torchwood on BBC is Saturday (19APR08). The new season of Doctor Who on SciFi channel starts Friday (18APR08).
That works out great for me....no withdraws...well at least until sometime this summer.

Any updates on either of these shows?
They have seemingly dropped off the radar :-(

Torchwood's whole season this year was the Children of Earth 5-day Marathon. You know, the one where they killed off almost everyone in the show! Davies says it will continue but I have not heard anything yet.
Doctor Who had one show back in July (Planet of the Dead) and then nothing. I think we are starting to sync up with England. They usually have a Christmas special and then the new series starts in March (I think). The only thing I have heard so far is there will be a Doctor Who this month or early December in the US. It will be broadcast Nov. 15th in England but they usually don't air here at the say time. It's called The Waters of Mars. Here's a link to some info:
The Waters of Mars
I assume the new series and the new doctor will start early next year.
That's all the (very sketchy) info I have.

OK. I feel much better now.
(I know a couple of people who catch episodes early on the net who I avoid until the episodes have been officially shown in the U.S.)

I thought there was going to be one more special before we get the new Doctor. Oh, well I guess we'll see tonight.
I happened to catch a quick preview of a new Torchwood episode (only saw Gwen when makes sense if the others are all dead or gone), but I wasn't able to catch when the next episode of that was coming out. Have you heard anything?
Also, any word about Sarah Jane?

I was out all day yesterday (watching the high school state championship games & Cowboys) so I did not get to watch it (I have it on DVR). I'm gonna be out of town most of the day today so I won't get to watch it until tonight....it's killing me!
I think this is the last (Christmas) special. I assume the new doctor will be introduced at the end of the episode.
I have not heard anything about Torchwood. Let me know if you hear more. I had heard that Davies was offered to continue the series and I thought he was going to. Although, everyone is dead except for Jack and Gwen and the hub has been destroyed....so it will be tough! btw: Davies said no one would come back from the dead.
As far as the Sarah Jane Adventures, I had heard about 6 months (or more) ago that it was renewed for another year. But, I have not heard anything since. I'll have to check around with some of my Sci-Fi buddies. They seem to know everything.

I watched it last night off of TiVo. Great episode, they definitely took the Doctor's character a little off the edge. Next week: The Master!

Yeah...they almost made him a little dark....
I noticed there are two more shows, The End of Time, part I (Dec 26th) & II (Jan 2nd), before David gives up his gig as the Doctor.

Me too!
Looking at the previews, it looks like they are bringing back the Time Lords and hopefully Gallifrey.
I always liked Gallifrey.....and Gallifrey had "The Matrix" back in the '70's. Long before the Matrix movies. So, I guess they really were ahead of their time!

Oops, sorry! Looks like the Time Lords are villains now and so we had to send them back!
Interesting items in this episode:
1. The cactus alien ship looked like the Starbug from Red Dwarf.
2. The space battle scene on the afore mentioned ship looked like the space battle scene on the Millennium Falcon in the original Star Wars.
3. Part of the Doctor's death scene while he was behind the plexiglass looked like Spock's death scene in The Wrath of Kahn.
4. Was that Boba-Fet in the bar with Capt Jack?

I know! How disappointing.....making the Time Lords into bad guys....oh well, I knew it was too good to be true.
A couple of other things I noticed (or think I noticed):
1. The Time Lords with their hands over their face looked like the "Weeping Angels" from the Blink episode.
2. The metal hand the head Time Lord had looked like the metal had that the Torchwood people had that could bring people back to life.

Torchwood coming to the U.S.?
Fox developing U.S. version of 'Torchwood'
Unlike U.S. adaptations that have gone awry, "Torchwood" fans can take comfort that the original producing team is on board. In addition to Davies, exec producers include Davies' producing partner Julie Gardner (former head of drama at BBC Wales for the show's first season) and Jane Tranter (another BBC vet, now exec vp programming and production at BBC Worldwide Prods. in the U.S.).
Also, some of the current cast -- most likely John Barrowman, who plays the immortal Capt. Jack Harkness -- might star if Fox orders "Torchwood" to pilot.
It sounds like it would be a continuation of the BBC series rather than a remake. I guess that with the Hub destroyed there is no reason to stay in Cardiff. I hope that Gwen (the only surviving member) is in it as well.

I had not heard about this. This will be great if it's a American arm of the original (especially since the Cardiff hub is gone). I sure hope this works!

It would be great it Davies produces the new Torchwood and no Fox execs try to interfere.
It probably won't be as racy as the BBC version though.

Would be nice......but probably won't happen...completely.

Probably won't see Captain Jack kissing all the guys....which would be fine with me. It has nothing to do with the plot line (most of the time).
