Recommending a Business
First and foremost it is fine to recommend a business on Allen Talk even if that business does not advertise on Allen Online. This information is very helpful to many people and we encourage you to do so.
What we ask is that when you recommend a business that is not an Allen Online advertiser that you please send that information through a private message/topic or via email. Please remember this is not a rule of these forums. It is only a request. We ask you as a courtesy to voluntarily follow this process as it is only fair to the advertisers that pay fees and support this web site.
But more importantly we strongly ask that you recommend Allen businesses first. A strong Allen economy is good for Allen and good for all of us.
Something Else to Consider
Please be aware that there have been certain situations that have occurred numerous times. One is an unsolicited post that gives a wonderful endorsement about a particular business when no one asked for a recommendation. Second, someone asks for a recommendation about a business and a similar wonderful endorsement appears from a new member in their first message ever posted in the forums.
We ask you to be cautious about these recommendations since we have found in many instances that these are actually representatives, employees, or friends of these businesses seeking free publicity. Many times this occurs right after our sales representative has called on their business. Since we allow anonymous registrations this will continue to occur.
Thank you for your cooperation.
