Tour the Morton H. Meyerson - The acoustically renowned Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, designed by I.M. Pei, is yours to tour on selected Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 1 p.m. (please call in advance for monthly tour schedule as tours are subject to change with rehearsals and performances) Discover the 4,535 pipes on the Herman W. Lay Family Organ - this $1.36 million organ, crafted by C.B. Fisk Inc., is truly an acoustical wonder!

Enthusiastic and experienced volunteer docents are available to welcome visitors, school groups, conventions, families, and others for a one-hour tour detailing points of interest throughout the Meyerson. Once a month, schedule permitting, a thirty-minute organ demonstration of the Lay Family Concert Organ is presented, followed by a tour of the Center.

Free one hour tours at 1 pm. Events hosted at the center are by admission only.

Old - Fashioned Country Kitchen - Visit Spring Creek Farm and see how the famous Owens Country Sausage began, as you tour a museum featuring a fully equipped kitchen, workshop, butchery and country store with articles and replicas dating back to the early 1900s. Outdoors, see Belgian draft horses, miniature ponies and other animals. Self guided tours daily - guided tours for groups of eight or more by reservation only.

Super Model Train - The U.S.' largest permanent model train display is in Dallas, and happily, it.s in the lobby of Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Eight trains run simultaneously at this free exhibit. Children's Medical Center has a small fee for parking.

Dallas Symphony Summer Concerts - Dallas' outdoors beckons lovers of nature and music. During the Spring and early Summer months, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra performs in area parks and you can also hear "Jazz under the Stars" at the Dallas Museum of Art on Thursday evenings.

Victory Park Free Summer Movies


Free Family Film Festival at Rave Motion Pictures - Jun 10-Jul 30. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. catch G-rated and PG-rated kids' films for free. Seating is first come, first served and is limited to the size of the auditorium. Free films will be shown at the Rave theatres at Northeast Mall, Hickory Creek, and Ridgmar Mall.


Regal Entertainment Group Free Family Film Festival - Jun 17-Aug 13. 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at several theatres scattered around Dallas, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie, G- and PG-rated movies are shown. Admission is free and first-come, first-served.

AMC Theatres Summer Movie Camp - Jun 25-Aug 6 Wednesdays at 10 a.m., kids' movies are $1. A portion of the admission will be donated to Variety - The Children's Charity and The Will Rogers Institute. Watch the films at Firewheel 18 (Garland), Highland Village 12 (4090 Barton Creek in Highland Village), Mesquite 30 (Mesquite), Parks at Arlington 18 (Parks at Arlington Mall), Stonebriar Centre 24 (Stonebriar Centre in Frisco), and Valley View 16 (Valley View Mall).


Gaylord Texan Guided Tours - This place is amazing. The tour isn't free, but you could do your own self-guided tour for free. It's quite the "Texas" experience.

Thu, Jul 24 - Arrive before 8 p.m. and get in free to the Glass Cactus (501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine) to see Micky And The Motorcars with Gary Kyle. Self-parking in the Resort Garage is free with validation.

11 a.m.-2 p.m., brunch in the urban oasis at Victory Park while listening to live jazz music. Bring a blanket and picnic brunch and sit on their patios.

2:30 p.m., the Basically Beethoven Festival finishes this weekend at the Dallas Arboretum. Reservations are required to get in free, otherwise admission to the Dallas Arboretum will be charged. Call (214) 515-6500.

Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to the free Haggard Park concerts by the Plano Community Band, especially the kid's concert on 6/16. They'll get a chance to conduct a march and dance the Chicken Dance.
