Has anybody else been experiencing erratic recycle pickup?
We live at McDermott and Alma, and our recycle (and our neighbors') hasn't been picked up in over a month.
We've been following all the rules as usual, and putting it out before 7AM on the scheduled day.
Tried to call the CWD hotline as listed on the City website, but it's not a functional number

At one time, the number listed for this service company, was off by a number. It often caused our calls to report "no pick up" to be made to the City, for their assistance. I've run into this in another town as well, where the city contact (liaison person thingy) had to be asked for resolution.

Ask the city which of their facilities you can bring your growing pile of stuff too, and maybe they'll want to be helpful.

Missed trash / recycling and bulk item collection should be reported to CWD. To speak to a customer service representative, please call 972.392.9300 Option 2.

There has been a few times we were 'missed' on recycle days?

If you finally do get through to CWD to report the problem and they still don't pick up your recycling, then call Donna Kliewer in Community Services at 214-509-4551. She will call CWD for you and they WILL be out to pick it up.

This happens where I live too, near Celebration Park. It seems nothing gets picked up unless I call to complain. Why do we have to call and complain to have these people do their jobs? Looks like this may be a city-wide issue in certain neighborhoods. I know of at least one neighborhood where there is no problem at all. Very annoying.

We have. Just last week they missed a whole side of the alley for trash and recycle pick up. I called CWD the next day to report it and they came out and picked it up - but only did my house.

Agreed - they're getting lax on the job. I've had to call several times lately also about missed pickups but I always let them know they missed the entire alley, not just my house. The past few weeks the recycle truck doesn't even make it down our alley until after 5 pm so I imagine some days they just "forget" about us so they can go ahead and get off work!

I find it interesting to hear of trouble with trash/recycle pickup. FWIW, I've been here over 15 years and only been missed a couple of times.

One time I recall was when we were the only house on that side of the alley. No big deal, we called, they took care of it.

My experience with missed pickups is that a phone call always brings them out to pickup the trash.

Also with the hoildays they are off by a day. So if you forget to put it out on the right day. (a day later) that could cause a miss pick up as well.

I agree one phone call will have them come right out and take care of it.

I find I'm way more likely to forget to put the bins out than they are to forget to pick them up.

Do you suppose I could get CWD to call me with a reminder? :)

I have found that if a call or two to CWD does not clear up the problem, then call the City of Allen Community Services and talk to Donna Kliewer about the problem you're having with CWD. She has always helped me out with any trash pick up problems and the specific problems have been resolved (i.e., trash was promptly picked up if it was missed.) Sometimes if the regular trash truck driver is on vacation and someone new takes his place, they don't know the route as well and that could be why your trash was missed. Also, the holiday this past week will push your pick-up out by one day.
