I thought I read somewhere that Cracker Barrell will be built on 75 and Stacey here in Allen. Can anyone tell me if there will be one? and exactly where will it be?

There was a press release back in June that stated it would be in the Village at Allen, but it also stated that it would open in October of 2008. So I'm guessing that it might have fallen through. There's no info on the cracker barrel website about a new location opening here.

That's a bummer. I love their little store too. I always find some kind of candy I don't see anywhere else.

Yea, I agree. The store was a nice touch to an excellent place to eat. I'd trade out several restaurants in Allen to get a CB here.

If you are driving East on Stacy, from US75, they have the sign built for the Cracker Barrel, they just haven't broken ground yet. It was suppose to be done by October--oops!

Ok I think I have eaten at Cracker Barrel ONCE. Is this the place that has the gift shop attached that reeks of scented candles potpourri etc?
Sorry but I don’t need that stench when eating.

Another Whataburger? There's hardly any around Allen. Just the one at 121 & Custer really. The one in Plano at 75/Parker is nasty.

Yea, another Whataburger. Have eaten in them a few times and every time, I've come away asking myself why. lol The food there just doesn't agree with me, the service is nice but the food leaves a lot to be desired, even for a fast food place IMO.

Sorry I was thinking of the Chedders, but I know someone that works at the Best Buy and he said that the Cracker Barrel is going between Olive Garden and Uncle Julio's. It will be Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel ,Red Robin, & Uncle Julio's.

Just confirmed from one of my inside sources that we are supposed to get a Cracker Barrel (near 75) AND a Whataburger (they weren't sure where, but thought near Stacy & Greenville). I guess nothing's final 'till construction starts, but they said both are committed to locations here.

it really is a shame about BJ's because I grew up in Southern California and they were really good food, but when they started expanding nationwide their food quality went down hill really quick and some of the small things that made them great and special (like lemonade with sugar crystals on the rim and mint in the glass) went away.

Ok. NW corner of Exchange and 75 is where Walmart is. The access to Walmart is awkward enough already. So until we see the plot map I don't know how they'll handle the traffic. Maybe someday City of Allen will decide to redo 75/Exchange just like Plano did with 75/Parker Rd.

I like CB. And I think the hospital staff and visitors will be happy they have one more choice other than their cafeteria and the Subway inside Walmart within walking distance.

Love Cracker Barrel. Very thrilled about this. But that location?? Unless you're on the southbound service road of Central, it's just not convenient to get to. A nightmare, actually.

Yup, absolutely horrible location. You either either have to get off the highway at Stacy and follow the service drive for a mile or cut through Walmart to get there. Not smart at all.

Another example of people will see it but have no idea how to get to it

While I would agree with those who say another location with easier access would be better, there appears to be an exit right where CB would be built. So, if anything, traffic would exit just before CB. But, the tricky part would be slowing down enough to turn into the parking lot from the access road, or pull in from the south side, the access ramp to Exchange Pkwy.

I don't know, I'm sure whatever the City and developers come up with will surely have been improved from this sketch. At least I hope so. I'm just glad CB is finally coming to Allen...

If they put in a drive for CB before the West Exchange loop it won't be any shorter/worse then when exiting for East Exchange coming from the south of 75. The State really does need to change the exit ramps for Exchange, they are not a good match for the amount of traffic that uses them each day.

I don't think the city will allow for a driveway coming off the service drive after the Exchange exit. It is too close and too fast to have cars slamming on their breaks to catch that last minute drive. My fiance's dental office she works for is going through the same thing at the SE corner of Exchange&75 that they will be building. They won't allow them to have a drive off the service drive due to the NB exit to Exchange. They say there is already enough traffic troubles just trying to enter the EB Exchange loop. They are however allowing them to have the drive on said loop so I guess CB could do the same thing on the WB Exchange loop or use the existing Walmart one and it wouldn't be as bad as I first pictured.

"...is getting a walmart AND..."

The "uppity west side" already has a Walmart, unless another one is going in somewhere else.

Please fill us in on what you know...

Although I like Denny's and even IHOP, I'd prefer CB over the others. Even more so now that we're getting one...

Just wondering if anyone has an update on construction. I've seen no activity on the plot of land this is supposedly being built on...

Where exactly is it going? There is construction going on at the ramp from the feeder to East bound Exchange on the East side of 75. Does anyone know what that is? There is also something going in in front of Target at the villages. Lots going on...

Well, unless something has changed, it was my understanding CB was slated for a plot of land next to Walmart. I haven't seen anything different or any ground-breaking there.

As for the SE corner of Exchange and 75, I believe another thread mentioned a dentist's office going up there.

I haven't been at The Village in quite a while, although I drove by there on my way out to OK over the weekend. Just didn't look closely at any new developements. You've got my curiosity about it now...
